At the second annual Snapdragon Technology Summit, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform as the successor to Snapdragon 835 that most flagship smartphones this year. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun at the event said that Qualcomm has always been part of Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone launches right from the Mi 1 that was introduced back in 2011 and the next flagship Xiaomi smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. He said that 238 million Xiaomi smartphones are powered by Qualcomm processors.

Qualcomm and Microsoft launch Windows 10 Snapdragon Always Connected PCs with 4G LTE

Microsoft and Qualcomm last year announced that Windows 10 will be coming to next-generation of Snapdragon Mobile processors. At the Computex 2017  earlier this year Qualcomm announced that ASUS, HP and Lenovo will be the first OEMs to build PCs powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform with X16 LTE modem. Today at its second annual Snapdragon Technology Summit, Qualcomm in partnership with Microsoft introduced the Always Connected PCs with 4G LTE which would bring ARM support to Windows 10, but with x86 emulation, allowing all existing applications to work as well.

Broadcom seeks to replace Qualcomm’s board as it escalates fight over its proposed takeover bid

After being rejected for a proposal to acquire Qualcomm, Broadcom has now nominated a slate of 11 candidates for Election at Qualcomm’s 2018 Annual Meeting to replace the Qualcomm’s existing board of directors and propose certain other matters for the consideration. Last week Broadcom made an offer to acquire Qualcomm at $130 Billion, which is $70 per share which consist of $60.00 in cash and $10.00 per share in Broadcom shares. Qualcomm today announced that its Board of Directors unanimously rejected the unsolicited proposal by Broadcom.

Broadcom has finally made an offer to acquire Qualcomm at $130 Billion, which is $70 per share which consist of $60.00 in cash and $10.00 per share in Broadcom shares just as reported. Broadcom’s offer is almost 28% premium over the closing price of the Qualcomm common stock’s closing price on Nov. 2, 2017.

At the ongoing Qualcomm 4G/5G summit, Qualcomm officially introduced the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem and has demoed the 5G data connectivity on a single-chip 5G modem. The company with its 5G modem was able to deliver 1-gigabit per second download speeds and a data connection of 28GHz mmWave radio frequency band combined with advanced signal processing technologies.

Qualcomm at the 2017 4G/5G Summit announced Snapdragon 636, an upgraded version of Snapdragon 630 that was introduced earlier this year. It is developed using the same 14nm FinFet process technology, but this uses eight Kryo 260 CPUs instead of A53 CPUs in the Snapdragon 630 that promises 40% increase in performance. It also has support for ultra-wide FHD+ displays and Assertive Display, which optimizes the visibility of the display in all lighting conditions.
