Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G Mobile Platform with up to 3.2GHz CPU clock speed announced

Qualcomm has just announced its latest Snapdragon 870 5G Mobile Platform as an incremental upgrade to the Snapdragon 865 Plus Mobile Platform that was introduced back in July, which was actually an incremental upgrade to Snapdragon 865. This comes after it introduced Snapdragon 888 5nm SoC. This packs Qualcomm Kryo 585 CPU Prime core clock speed at up to 3.2 GHz, which the company says will offer increased performance. Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 is 50% faster and 77% larger, could debut in Galaxy S21

Qualcomm has introduced Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 after it introduced Gen 1 for flexible OLED displays back in 2018. The second-generation sensor comes in two new sizes that are 50% faster and 77% larger compared to Gen 1. Cristiano Amon to be the next Qualcomm CEO succeeding Steve Mollenkopf

Qualcomm today announced that Cristiano Amon will be the next CEO of Qualcomm unanimously selected by the Board of Directors. Amon, who has worked at Qualcomm since 1995, is currently President of the Company. Amon will succeed Mollenkopf effective June 30, 2021 after he retires as CEO following 26 years with Qualcomm. Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Benchmarks: How fast is this compared to Snapdragon 865 / 865 Plus?

Qualcomm introduced its flagship Snapdragon 888 Mobile platform at its Snapdragon Tech Summit 2020 earlier this month. The latest flagship SoC has a Kryo 680 Prime Arm Cortex-X1-based CPU at up to 2.84GHz, 3 x Kryo 680 Performance A78-based CPUs at up to 2.42GHz and 4x Kryo 680 Efficiency A55-based CPUs at up to 1.8GHz. It is fabricated using the Samsung 5nm (5LPE) Process Technology. Today it has officially published the benchmarks of the SoC. Google, Qualcomm partner to offer up to 4 years of Android updates

Google launched Project Treble with the aim of reducing the fragmentation of the Android ecosystem across various smartphone manufacturers and devices. Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 11nm Mobile Platform with up to 2.2 GHz CPU announced

Qualcomm just announced Snapdragon 678, the company’s next generation Mobile Platform in the 600-tier and the successor of Snapdragon 675 that was introduced back in 2018. This has Qualcomm Kryo 460 CPU clocked up to 2.2GHz, compared to 2GHz in the predecessor and has Qualcomm Adreno 612 GPU, which the company says has been improved compared to the predecessor, offering faster speeds with greater efficiency. After unveiling the Snapdragon 888 yesterday, Qualcomm detailed the Snapdragon 888, the company’s latest 5G Mobile Platform that is built on 5nm process technology from Samsung.  The SoC uses Qualcomm Kryo 680 cores clocked up to 2.84GHz offering up to a 25% improved CPU performance, thanks to new Arm Cortex-X1 prime core. The Qualcomm Adreno 660 GPU offers up to 35% faster graphics rendering and is 20% more power efficient compared to the Snapdragon 865. iPhone 12 teardown confirms Snapdragon X55 5G modem; Apple to use Snapdragon X60, X65 and X70 modems in future iPhones

Apple introduced the iPhone 12 series smartphones with 5G support last week. A tear down video from China has confirmed that the phone uses Qualcomm SDX55 5G modem, which is X55 5G that is also used with Snapdragon 865. The iPhone 11 series used Intel XMM7660 4G mode.
