The new Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon in an interview with Reuters confirmed that it will start selling Nuvia-based laptop chips next year. Qualcomm completed the acquisition of NUVIA, a CPU and technology design startup, for $1.4 billion earlier this year. Nuvia was founded ex-Apple employees who left Apple in 2019 before the introduction of Apple M1 chip in 2020 that powers new MacBook Air and iPad Pro models. After rumours, Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G Mobile Platform, an upgrade to the Snapdragon 888 that was introduced back in December last year. Compared to Snapdragon 888, the Plus version offers an increased Qualcomm Kryo 680 CPU Prime core clock speed at up to 2.995GHz, up 5.2% compared to the predecessor and the 6th generation Qualcomm AI Engine with up to 32 TOPS AI performance compared to 26 TOPS AI performance in the predecessor, which is a 20% improvement. Qualcomm, one of the world’s biggest chip designers and manufacturers, has unveiled their next generation Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System, along with their Snapdragon X65 and X62 5G M.2 Reference Designs for PCs. The X65 5G Modem-RF System is the world’s first system that is capable of 10 Gigabit 5G and the first 3GPP release 16 modem-RF system.
Qualcomm just announced Snapdragon 778G 5G Mobile Platform, the company’s new mid-range 5G SoC at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021. It is based on 6nm process technology, has Qualcomm Kryo 670 CPU with new architecture delivers up to 40% performance uplift and the Adreno 642L GPU is designed to deliver up to 40% faster graphics rendering compared to the previous generation, said the company.
