It wasn’t too long ago that Samsung announced its first generation Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Aimed at competing with the likes of Pebble and anticipated competition from Apple, the original Galaxy Gear was a relative failure because of its high price point, poor battery life and limited compatibility. Fast forward five months and Samsung is all set to show off its next gen Gear 2 smartwatch that eschews Android for the Korean company’s homegrown Tizen OS.
The new smartwatch will retail in two variants ie the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. The Galaxy branding has been dropped because of the transition from Android to Tizen. Specifications of the watch remain largely the same and include a 1GHz dual core processor, 4GB storage, 512MB RAM and a 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED touch screen. The watch also incorporates S Voice, a heart rate monitor, pedometer for health related applications. It also has IP67 certification for water, dust resistance. We had seen several reports, including reports from Korean websites claiming that the Galaxy Gear 2 would launch at the MWC 2014. There were also rumors about Samsung unveiling two Galaxy Gear smartwatches at the event. Thanks to evleaks, now we know that these would be called Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear 2 Neo. LG started rolling out the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for their flagship LG G2 smartphone in Korea recently. The company has announced that it would roll out the Android 4.4 update in UK starting from mid-March 2014. The KitKat update for the G2 would bring battery-saving location mode, speed improvements for 17% percent faster performance compared to Jelly Bean, Google Cloud Print and lots more new features. NVIDIA announced the Tegra Note, the company’s first Tegra 4 tablet last year. Today, NVIDIA has announced the LTE variant of the tablet powered by Icera i500 modem. Xolo has been announced as the hardware manufacturer for India once again. Other specifications are exactly similar to the non-LTE version including a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display with support for NVIDIA DirectStylus technology and quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 CPU, but this runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) out of the box. Yesterday, Android and Chrome’s chief Sundar Pichai said Google will host the I/O 2014 on June 25th and 26th, 2014. Oppo had teased about their upcoming flagship – Find 7, sometime before the CES 2014, but they did not showcase the 2K display device at CES 2014. Now, just before the MWC 2014, we are having leaks of the Oppo Find 7 and there is so information to be taken in before you read further. Rumors point to two variants of Find 7 and one variant will have a 2K QHD display while the other variant will bear a Full HD display.

We just reviewed the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact a couple of days back, and saw the official launch of it happen in India yesterday, with it priced at Rs. 36,990/-. The phone carries forward almost all the USPs of its bigger brother, the Xperia Z1 and one of the constants is the Sony EXMOR RS 20.7 MP sensor. The Karbonn Titanium S5 Plus is one of the latest budget devices to enter the Indian market. The phone is powered by a 1.3Ghz quad core processor and is paired with 1GB of RAM. The display is a 5 inch panel with a resolution of 960×540. Being paired with a relatively low resolution display removes one of the bottlenecks for the lowly processor and helps it achieve decent performance. We put the phone through our benchmark suite.
