Windows Phone 8.1 File Manager app teased, may come this month

File management is one of the most underrated features of a mobile operating system. For any platform to be truly independent, a file manager that allows local storage and management of any kind of file, is a necessity and with Windows Phone 8.1, this is finally happening. After moving to WinRT APIs for its latest mobile release, Microsoft has finally added the ability to download or upload files on the phone’s browser or through various apps, using the file picker. The file picker naturally necessitates a file manager, which will be released as a standalone app by Microsoft, as revealed and teased on a Reddit AMA, by the company’s Windows Phone champion, Joe Belfiore. The app is almost ready and is reportedly set to release this month.

Motorola Moto X+1 gets a placeholder on Moto Maker website

Motorola Moto X+1, the successor of the Moto X has been rumored for the past few weeks. Motorola’s Moto Maker website that lets users create custom design for Moto X now has a new page that mentions “Moto X+1 Details”, but the logo seems to be missing. According to a recent leak from @evleaks, the Moto X+1 would come with 25 custom backplate options, including four leather options. LG G Pro 2 officially launched in India for Rs. 51500

LG has officially launched the G Pro 2, the company’s latest smartphone in the G series and the successor of the G Pro. It packs a 5.9-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display with 3.3 mm narrow bezel, powered by a 2.26 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Micromax Tegra 4i-powered LTE smartphone press image leaks

Micromax is working on their first LTE smartphone that would be powered by NVDIA’s Tegra 4i processor, according to a Twitter user @LeaksterInc. The user has also leaked the press image of the smartphone that resembles the Wiko Wax smartphone from the French manufacturer Wiko. Micromax was the first Indian OEM to launch Tegra 2-powered smartphone, Micromax A85 back in 2011, but it did not tie-up with NVIDIA after that. Sony is offering Xperia Z2 users with a bunch of goodies ranging from music to games. Xperia Z2 smartphone users will get six free movies, 30-day trial of the Music Unlimited service, 8 games from PlayStation Mobile and a free download of the upcoming Michael Jackson album, XSCAPE.

Samsung started rolling out the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the Galaxy Note 2 last week France. The update is now rolling out for the Note 2 users in India. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 got the KitKat update in January and the Galaxy S4 got the update in February. The Galaxy Note 2 got Android 4.1.2 update back in December 2012 and got the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update directly, skipping Android 4.2, back in November last year. Samsung schedules health-focused event on May 28th

Samsung has scheduled an event in San Francisco on May 28th to discuss about something related to Health. Since this comes from Samsung’s Semiconductor arm, it could be related to forthcoming sensors and components, rather than some new fitness device, says Engadget that received the invite. Samsung launched its new Gear devices, including the Gear Fit, a smartband recently. All these accessories have Heart Rate sensor to monitor the heart rate.

LG G3 leaks again in live images, shows off ultra-thin bezel

Earlier this week LG confirmed several simultaneous events on May 27th and 28th in different cities worldwide, where the company is expected to unveil the LG G3. The back of the smartphone was leaked recently showing off the rear buttons. Today, more live images of the smartphone got leaked on a Korean website that shows the front part of the phone with ultra-thin side bezels for the first time. Amazon’s smartphone revealed in new render

We all know about Amazon’s foray in the smartphone market as few details have already surfaced online. Last month images of the 4.7 inch phone with six cameras were leaked. This was followed by another report suggesting that the phone will have tilt based gesture control. Today BGR has revealed a new image of the Amazon smartphone that is ready for a June launch, according to WSJ report.

Google Glass teardown estimates total cost less than $80

Google Glass, the futuristic wearable product from the Mountain View company, has been all the rage among the tech community. But, with an astronomical entry cost of 1500$ and a limited invite-only model, it is extremely clear that it is not ready for the market. But in the future, it will be ready, but what will be its approximate cost? We can not know now, due to the rapid commoditization of technology, but we can surely get an idea of what it costs Google to make the current version of Glass, thanks to a teardown by the popular site going by the same name. It estimates the total cost of the “Bill of materials” to under 80$ for Google.

Sony launched the Xperia E1 dual along with the Xperia E1 in India last month at a price tag of Rs. 10,490. It went on sale at Rs. 9,999 and got a price cut to Rs. 9,490 few weeks back. Now the phone has received another price cut and is available for as low as Rs. 8,054 in India online. The E1 dual has a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). Google Search updated with Google Now parking reminder card

Google, which already takes care of your many day-to-day activities will now even help you remember where you have parked your car. The tech giant has updated its Search app on Android with Parking Location card that offers the ability to automatically detect where you have parked your car and help you find that spot later.
