Xiaomi has sold over 3 million smartphones in India

Xiaomi today announced that it has sold over 3 million smartphones in India since its launch. It crossed one million sales mark in the country back in December 2014 with just three smartphones, Mi 3, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note. It said that it crossed 2 million mark in March this year, and it took just 6 months to sell one million smartphones to reach the 3 million milestone. Samsung Exynos 8890 Octa-Core SoC surfaces in benchmarks, could be Exynos M1

Samsung Lucky-LTE the company’s upcoming 4G smartphone has surfaced on Geekbench (Via). According to the listing, the smartphone packs an Octa-Core Exynos 8890 SoC clocked at 1.38 GHz and the chip is based on ARMv8 architecture. Since this has new ARM implementer 83 architecture, it could be Exynos M1 with custom CPU cores, as rumored earlier. Google has released its monthly Android distribution update for the month of September. The latest numbers reveal that Android Lollipop is now present on 21% of all Android devices. This is up from 18.1% since last month and 10% in May.

Sony has launched the Xperia M5 Dual, the company’s latest smartphone in the M series in India, as expected. It was announced last month and packs a 5-inch 1080p display, is powered by MediaTek Helio X10 Octa-Core SoC and runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). It has a 21.5-megapixel rear camera with 0.25-second Hybrid Autofocus, LED flash, 4K video recording and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera. Android Wear heads to China, Moto 360 to lead the charge

ACT (Atria Convergence Technologies Pvt. Ltd.), popular for its Fiber Optic broadband has reduced their tariffs for their ACT Fibernet customers in Hyderabad. The 100Mbps plan now costs Rs. 1,999, compared to the previous rate of Rs. 2,799 and there is a new 60Mbps plan for Rs. 1,299. It has also doubled the speed for customers using 5Mbps and 20Mbps plans to 10Mbps and 40Mbps, respectively without extra cost. Even speed post the FUP limit have been increased in these plans.
