Periscope, the popular live streaming app from Twitter is working on an app for Apple TV, as per a latest report from TechCrunch. The Periscope app will be available on a standalone app store that will be present for the Apple TV.
Using a Periscope app for Apple TV will allow users to watch livestreams on their televisions. Currently, Periscope videos can be watched solely on the web and through smartphones using iOS and Android apps, but with an expansion to the Apple TV, video streams will be available on larger screens for the first time. It is unknown when the Periscope app is intended to launch, but this report is the first indication of any third-party apps actively in development for the much anticipated upcoming Apple TV.
Previous reports have highlighted that games will be the prime focus of the Apple TV and it will also come with a multi-functional remote control. Meanwhile, Periscope recently revealed that it now has over 10 million registered users and sees more than 40 years of video watched per day.
