Nokia Lumia 510 gets priced at Rs.9999 on Flipkart (Updated)

Nokia Lumia 510 that was announced last week in India is priced at online retailer Flipkart and is available for purchase for Rs. 9999. It is the most affordable Windows Phone device till date, pushing the Lumia 610 to the second place. It has a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display and runs on Windows Phone 7.5 OS, which is upgradable to Windows Phone 7.8. It is powered by a 800 MHz Snapdragon S1 processor and comes with a 5MP auto focus camera with VGA video recording at 30fps. Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 launching in India in November

Nokia just announced today that it has begun shipping its first Windows Phone 8 devices in select markets to operators and retail outlets and it will go on sale in UK and France later this week.Russia and Germany would be getting the Lumia 920 and 820 after that.  Several other countries including India will see the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 being launched sometime in November ( no exact date or price yet). The Lumia 920 packs an awesome camera with optical image stabilization and a pure motion hd+ display apart and runs on Windows Phone 8. Nokia Asha 309 launched in India for Rs. 6349

Nokia has launched the Asha 309 in India. They have also launched the Asha 308 Dual SIM phone officially in India, that went on sale in India last week. Both these phones were announced last month and comes with a 3.0-inch (240 x 400 pixels) scratch-resistant capacitive touch display and runs on Nokia Asha OS with Swipe Interface. Nokia Lumia 822 announced, coming exclusively to Verizon this fall

Nokia has finally announced the Lumia 822, their new Windows Phone 8 device exclusive for Verizon Wireless. It surfaced earlier this month as Nokia Atlas and has similar features as the 820 including a 4.3-inch (800 x 480 pixels) AMOLED  ClearBlack display, 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and Windows Phone 8 OS. Unlike the 820, this phone has a curved design. It would support Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

The Nokia Lumia 920 gets a price and launch date in Finland

Microsoft is going to show off Windows Phone 8 later today at an event in California. One of the first devices to hit the market that’ll run that OS will be Nokia’s flagship Lumia 920. It’s the first smartphone to feature optical image stabilization, which should deliver ultra high quality blur free photos. It’s also one of the first devices to ship with a touch screen that works even when you have gloves on, something that’s important in Nokia’s home country of Finland. Speaking about Finland, one of the largest consumer electronic store chains in the country, Verkkokauppa, has just announced when they’ll start selling the Lumia 920. According to their weekly circular, there’s going to be a launch event on November 22nd at 00:01. It’ll cost 599 Euros, which is the same price that they’ll also be selling HTC’s Windows Phone 8X. IDC: Samsung, Apple top Smartphone vendors in Q3 2012, Nokia not in top 5


Samsung and Apple are the leading Smartphone vendors based on shipments, once again in the Q3 2012, according to a report by Research Firm IDC (International Data Corporation). Nokia loses its place in the top 5 list, while RIM enters the top 5 spot by replacing Nokia’s 3rd spot. The worldwide smartphone market saw 45.3% year-over-year growth in Q3 2012 with 179.7 million unit shipments, compared to 123.7 million units in Q3 2011. Nokia has announced the Lumia 510 in India. It comes with a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, 800 MHz  Snapdragon S1 Processor and would come with a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera. It runs on Windows Phone 7.5 OS which is upgradable to Windows Phone 7.8 in future. Other features would be similar to the Nokia Lumia 610. It would let the users to access to social networks, which includes Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.  It also comes with 3 months unlimited Nokia Music and Mix Radio.

Nokia reports Q3 2012 financials, 2.9 million Lumias sold, $9.4 billion in sales

Nokia just published its quarterly financial report and predictably, the results aren’t good at all. The Finnish smartphone manufacturer reported losses of $754 million. The silver lining to this is that the company has definitely managed to slow down its losses which were reported at $1.01 billion in the previous quarter. The sales of Lumia devices dropped down to 2.9 billion compared to 4 million in the last quarter.

Nokia DC-16 Portable Battery Review

As smartphones increase in capabilities and screen sizes, the battery technology is struggling to keep up. Non replaceable batteries in phones have made it even harder to be able to just switch out when the phone dies.

This has led to a range of portable battery accessories by manufacturers like Proporta, Nokia amongst others. Nokia added a new member to its battery line up some time back in the form of the DC-16 charging stick and we decided to give it a spin. Here’s our review.
