Huawei has finally announced the Ascend W1, the company’s first Windows Phone 8 device. This has a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) WVGA IPS LCD display with OGS Technology that reduces the light consumption to make the screen brighter and more vivid, 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with Adreno 305 GPU. It has a 5 MP auto focus camera at the back with LED flash and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera. It has a 1950 mAh battery with unique power saving technology to save 30% of power. Huawei unveiled the Ascend Mate along with the Ascend D2 earlier today at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013. The Ascend Mate has a 6.1-inch 720p display unlike the Ascend D2 that has a 5-inch 1080p display. But the Ascend Mate has a 1.5 GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) similar to the D2. Huawei announced the Ascend D2 the company’s latest Android Smartphone with a 5-inch 1080p display earlier today at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013. We got some hands-on time with the device, here are some images of the device. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 Huawei’s own processor. Expected to be unveiled at CES in January, Huawei’s newest smartphone was shown off by Richard Yu. The Chairman of devices at Huawei flaunted the device at a store in Guangzhou yesterday. Called the Ascend Mate, the Android powered smartphone has a massive 6.1 inch 1080p screen with 361ppi.

Richard Yu, Senior Vice President of Huwaei has confirmed that the company would unveil the Ascend D2 Android Smartphone with a 5-inch 1080p (1920 × 1080 pixels) display and Ascend W1 Windows Phone 8 device at CES 2013. The Ascend D2 would be the successor of the Ascend D1 that was announced at MWC 2012. The Ascend W1 would be the company’s first Windows Phone 8 device. Speaking on the Chinese social network, Weibo, Huawei Senior Vice President Yu Chengdong confirmed that Huawei is working on a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 competitor. The phone which has been rumored for a while is expected to ship with an absolutely massive 6.1 inch full HD display. The phone has been rumored to be called the Ascend Mate.

Huawei has officially launched the MediaPad 7 Lite, their new 7-inch Android tablet with 3G and voice calling facilities. It was announced earlier this August and went on sale in India online at the end of October. Huawei has also announced that the MediaPad 10 FHD that was announced back in February would be available in India in December. The MediaPad 7 Lite has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) IPS multi-touch display and is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor. It has 3G support with voice calling, SMS and MMS. The MediaPad 10 FHD has a 10.1-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz K3 quad-core processor. Both these tablets would run on 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite that was announced back is August is now available in India from online retailer Flipkart. It has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) IPS multi-touch display and is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor. It runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and 3G support with voice calling, SMS and MMS. It has a 3.2 Megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera for video calling. Huawei has launched the Ascend P1 LTE, the first LTE smartphone in India, in partnership with Airtel at the Innovation Qualcomm India 2012 event. It would run on Airtel’s LTE-TDD network that was first launched in Kolkatta earlier this April. The Huawei Ascend P1 LTE has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD (960 x 540 pixels) display with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla glass protection and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with Adreno 225 GPU. It runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and has a 8 megapixel auto focus camera with dual LED flash and 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calling. Windows Phone 8, Microsoft’s next generation mobile operating system, is scheduled to be unveiled on October 29th. So far there have been a handful of Windows Phone 8 devices announced, but unfortunately we don’t know too much about the operating system other than the fact that the home screen will support three live tile sizes. Nokia loves to show people the Lumia 920 and demo the awesome optically stabilized camera, but they won’t actually let anyone touch it. HTC is a bit more relaxed with regards to letting people fondle their devices, but still, time is limited. And Samsung hasn’t even shown off the ATIV S at a public forum. Huawei has launched the Y100, their new entry-level Android smartphone in India in partnership with Spice, hence it called S Huawei Y100. It has a 2.8-inch (320 × 240 pixels) TFT Capacitave touch screen display and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It is powered by a 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and has a 3.2MP fixed-focus camera at the back. The Huawei Ascend Y100 was announced back in May for select countries. Samsung was the first handset maker to announce a Windows Phone 8 device, the ATIV S. They showed it off in Berlin in late August. Nokia was next in line a week later in New York with the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920. Then there was HTC with the 8X and 8S, again in New York. Now it’s Huawei’s turn. According to ITProPortal, the Chinese handset maker is going to hold an event on the 25th of this month, probably in China, though that hasn’t been confirmed yet, to announce the W1 and the W2. The latter is set to be the higher end device that will allegedly rival the Nokia Lumia 920, whereas the former is a “midrange” device. Today’s announcement by EE on the arrival of 4G LTE in the UK heralds a new era in this Britain’s telecommunication industry. It’s been a long time waiting, and judging by the initial hands on demonstration, it seems that it will be worth the wait.
Huawei’s Ascend P1 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 were two of the few handsets on display at the EE press conference today. Initial speed test shows that the devices were capable of achieving and maintaining 25+Mbps download and 12+Mbps upload speed, a fair upgrade over T-Mobile’s current 3G network.
No price plans has been announced yet. The rollout of EE’s 4G LTE network will begin this year and they aim to cover 1/3rd of the population by the end of the year.

Huawei has announced MediaPad 7 Lite, their new tablet in the MediaPad lineup. It has metal uni-body design and comes with a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) IPS mult-touch display. It is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor. It runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and comes with a 3.2 MP rear camera, 0.3MP front-facing camera.
