Google Meet premium features are free till September 30th

With an increased number of classrooms and educations being conducted online, Google is introducing a lot of new changes to improve Meet for their  G Suite for Education and G Suite Enterprise for Education users. These include Classroom integration with Meet, security and encryption updates, addition of premium Meet features for free and more.

Google launches Talkback braille Keyboard for blind people

Google has just launched a new accessibility feature for blind people called the Talkback braille keyboard. It is a new virtual keyboard that will be integrated directly into android, enabling a blind person to type fast and conveniently without any additional hardware.

Samsung said to be working on custom Exynos SoC for Google; could be announced this year

Samsung’s in-house Exynos SoCs have been there for a while now, and the company is set to launch Exynos SoCs with AMD Graphics next year which could drastically improve the GPU performance. Lately, Exynos SoCs are being used on non-Samsung smartphones as well and on similar lines now, a new report suggests that Samsung is working on a custom chipset for Google which could be announced as soon as this year.

Chrome v81 stable update brings Web NFC, enables WebXR by default, App badges and more

In February, Google released an update to Chrome Beta v81 that added a lot of API’s that could power new experiences in the future. These include Web NFC API, WebXR augumented reality API’s, etc. and Google has brought them over to the stable version in Chrome v81.

Google announces two month free trial for Stadia Pro

Google’s own game streaming service Stadia, has become the next company to take advantage of increased number of people being quarantined at home. Starting today and rolling out over the next 48 hours, Google is offering a free trial of Stadia Pro, which usually costs $9.99/month, for the next two months in 14 countries.

Google will require A/B Seamless System updates for phones launching with Android 11

Google introduced seamless updates back in 2016 with Android 7.0. Any Android smartphone that features Seamless System updates will have two partitions; A and B and when a firmware update arrives, it is downloaded and installed on the second inactive partition. Once the update is downloaded and installed, the phone will boot into the newly updated firmware.

Google Phone app may get Flip to Silence gesture soon

With the launch of the Pixel 3, Google introduced a gesture of flipping the phone on to its screen to enter a ‘Do Not Disturb (DND) mode. Now, with Google Phone 47 beta, they appear to be testing a more traditional use for the same gesture: silencing incoming calls. Along with this, Google is also testing a feature to answer a call with 1-way video.
