Apple just announced that its 31st annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will take place in June in a new online format due to current health situation. Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi said that the company has created new format that delivers a full program with an online keynote and sessions. Apple also announced that it will commit $1 million to local San Jose organizations to offset associated revenue loss as a result of WWDC 2020’s new online format. Apple’s WatchOS 7 and Watch Series 6 is expected to launch sometime during August-September this year and with it, Apple might bring a significant amount of changes. In a code leak of iOS 14, it was revealed that features like sleep tracking, tachymeter, the ability to share your watch face and more will be coming to the Apple Watch Series 6.
Apple may be working on expanding the health capabilities of its Apple Watch series by adding the ability to detect blood oxygen levels. The feature was spotted in a code snippet of iOS 14, indicating that Apple is developing a new health notification based on the blood oxygen measurement.

When Apple announced their iPhone 11 series of smartphones, it was clear that Apple had stepped up their smartphone photography game by a sizeable amount. Apple received a lot of backlash from the tech community and its users when they confirmed that they were throttling the performance of older iPhones with ageing batteries. Apple was since sued with a class-action lawsuit and has now finally decided to settle it, paying up to $500 million in fines.
As the Indian government re-imposed 10% service welfare cess over and above existing 20% basic customs duty in India, Apple has increased the price of its iPhones, including its iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max smartphones in the country. The government last month increased the import duty on PCBA from 10% to 20%, chargers from 15% to 20% and mobile phone components such as display panel, touch panel, microphone and receiver from 0 to 10%. As more and more positive cases of Coronavirus are reported in countries outside of China, smartphone manufacturers are facing increasing issues with parts supply for their upcoming devices. Specifically, Apple’s iPhone is finding it very difficult to ramp up its production as supply chains continue to be hit with the Coronavirus outbreak.

Rumors about Apple’s own retail outlet in India has been surfacing for quite some time now. Yesterday at its annual shareholders meeting at Steve Jobs Theater Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that Apple will open its first retail store in India in 2021. He said that the company had to seek special approval for this because the Indian government wanted it to work with a partner. “We wouldn’t be a very good partner in retail. Based on code found iOS 13.4 beta, Apple may be testing a method of recovery for iOS based devices via the internet. This will reduce the dependance on devices such as the iPhone, iPad and others on the Mac or PC for restoring its firmware.

The iPhone rumours continue to pile up as fresh news of the possible Wi-Fi capabilities for the upcoming iPhone 12 have popped up. Apple is rumoured to use the new 802.11ay Wi-Fi standard which utilises the 60GHz spectrum that is ideal for high bandwidth data transfer.
