Apple introduced its iPhone 12 series smartphones in India last week. Today the company has started pre-bookings for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro smartphones in the country online through Flipkart, Amazon.in, Apple India online store as well as Authorized Apple retailers offline. It will be available through 3500 retail locations across India starting, 30th October. In keeping with social distancing norms, customers who pre-book it offline will be given time slots to pick up their new iPhone from the store or can select to have it home delivered. Apple introduced new iPads last month, and the new iPhone 12 series earlier this week along with the new HomePod mini. Now Apple leaker Jon Prosser claims that the first Apple Silicon Macs will be announced on November 17th, and the date will be confirmed by Apple on November 10th, a week before the launch. Apple introduced iPhone 12 series in an online event few hours back. At the event it also announced price cuts for iPhone 11, iPhone XR and iPhone SE 2020, and Apple India has also reduced the price of the models in India. The iPhone 11 and iPhone XR got a price hike after GST hike back in April. This is the first official price cut on MRP for the iPhone SE 2020 since the launch earlier this year, even though it was offered at cheaper rates with bank offers earlier this year. Along with the launch of the iPhone 12 series, Apple also introduced their new MagSafe technology for wireless charging. With it, Apple is simplifying the experience of charging the new iPhones wireless, and they also announced 4 new accessories with this technology built-in.
At its special event Apple announced the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max successor of last year’s iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max models, both with support for 5G. These come with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch OLED Super Retina XDR displays, respectively and have support for HDR and Dolby Vision. These come with new Ceramic Shield protection with 4x better drop performance, thanks to a new high temperature crystallisation step that grows nano-ceramic crystals within the glass matrix. The phones are powered by A14 Bionic 5nm Chip with 11.8 billion transistors and a 6-core design and feature IP68 water resistance (6 meters for up to 30 minutes). Apple released The iOS 14.2 Beta 2 is out for developers today, and as expected, the beta reveals many of the new emoji that Apple is planning to release to iOS soon. Apple previewed a few emoji previously, but now with the update, we can see loads more such as the smiling face with tear, Disguised face, gender variations of people wearing a veil or tuxedo and more.
There have been many rumours of Apple working towards making the shift to Mini LED displays for all of its devices. The latest one, from Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, suggests that Apple is still working with suppliers and the first device with the Mini LED display will be an iPad Pro that is expected to release by the end of 2020.
