Continuing their fight against Apple, Epic Games has filed an anti-trust lawsuit with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition this time, claiming that Apple has conducted in a behavior that is anti-competitive and harmful to the free market. Epic Games had previously filed lawsuits against Apple for similar allegations in the USA, Australia and UK.

Apple has released a new “For All Mankind: Time Capsule” app on the App Store that enables augmented reality (AR) experiences for Apple TV+ series “For All Mankind”. The AR app uses Apple’s ARKit framework to create these experiences and even has some exclusive content for the latest iPad Pro and iPhone 12 Pro series.

Over the past few months, rumours of Apple working on a VR and AR headset has been heating up quite a bit. The latest report from The Information now reveals that the headset will cost a premium, around $3000, and will feature 8K displays, a powerful processor and loads of sensors and cameras.
Apple is reportedly entering into a partnership with South Korean car manufacturer Kia, for the production of their future electric vehicle – the Apple Car. The two companies may enter into a contract on February 17th and will start producing cars that will likely launch in 2024. Apple will also be working with Hyundai for the designing and developing for their first car, using their E-GMP battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck last year, iPhone users faced a rather unique problem, they couldn’t use Face ID to unlock their phone when wearing a mask. Apple is now rolling out an update that will allow users to unlock their iPhone by using Face ID with reduced security, as long as they are wearing an Apple Watch.

In their upcoming iOS and iPadOS update, Apple is bringing two new features called the Privacy nutrition label and App Tracking Transparency that will bring powerful controls to users over their data.
Apple has reported quarterly revenue of $111.4 billion, an all-time revenue record, which is up 21.3% YoY. It posted a net profit of $28.8 billion, up 29.7% YoY and quarterly earnings per diluted share of $1.68, up 35% YoY for the financial year Q1 2021 that ended December 26, 2020. During the earnings call Tim Cook said that Apple saw strong double-digit growth across every product category, and achieved all-time revenue records in each of the geographic segments. On Jan 4th 2021, an article from the Heart Rhythm journal revealed that Apple’s new iPhone 12 and their MagSafe certified accessories could possibly interfere with implanted medical devices. Apple has acknowledged the issue, and has released a statement, sharing information on it.

Popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has dropped some fresh rumours about the upcoming MacBook Pro laptops for 2021. In an investor note, Kuo revealed that Apple will be releasing a redesigned 14-inch and a 16-inch model with a flat edges all around, be powered by Apple Silicon inside, feature MagSafe charging and will not have the OLED touch bar.
