Xiaomi surpasses Samsung in the largest smartphone market in India in Q4 2017: CMR

Xiaomi has surpassed Samsung in the largest smartphone market in India in the Q4 2017 to become the number one brand, according to a report from Cybermedia Research. Xiaomi outshined Samsung in Maharashtra which alone amounted to 13.7% of the sales during the last quarter of 2017. According to CMR, Xiaomi sold over 31.2% of the Smartphones during the period compared to Samsung which sold 15.3%. Worldwide wearable shipments up 10.3% YoY in 2017, Apple leads with 15.3% market share: IDC

According to IDC, the worldwide wearables market continued to grow in both the Q4 and whole of 2017 with the total shipments reaching a new record. Apple moved past Fitbit and Xiaomi to become the leader in the wearable market worldwide. The total volumes of the quarter reached 37.9 million units, which is up 7.7% from the 35.2 million units shipped YoY. Reliance Jio is said to be in talks with Xiaomi for exclusive rights to sell smartphones and TVs in India similar to what it has with Apple.
