Reliance Jio had filed several complaints with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) against incumbent operators who failed to provide sufficient POIs to Jio. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has ruled in favour of Net Neutrality putting an end to a long on-going debate. The authority has announced that “no service provider can offer or charge discriminatory tariffs for data services on the basis of content”. TRAI has ordered the same under ‘Prohibition of Discriminatory Tariffs for Data Services Regulation’.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued Telecom Consumers Protection (Ninth Amendment) Regulations, 2015 that will come into force from the 1st January, 2016. Under this new amendment, TRAI has mandated originating mobile providers to credit one Rupee for a dropped call to the calling consumers as notional compensation. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today announced that it has reduced ceiling tariffs for national roaming calls and SMS. It also announced that special roaming tariff plan are mandatory for all the operators. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has imposed new SMS termination charges for retail consumers and commercial messages. Termination charge is paid by the operator where the SMS originates to the operator to which the message is delivered. TRAI did not set a particular charge for this hence some operators were charging 10 paise as termination charges. Now they have set the SMS termination charge as 2 paise for normal SMS and 5 paise on transactional SMS on operators from whom the SMS originates. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has exempted the daily SMS limit of 200 for machine to machine and person to machine messages. TRAI restricted mobile users from sending more than 100 SMS / day per SIM starting 27th September 2011, to prevent pesky marketing SMS.
