Samsung Omnia HD Review Part-4: Camera

The Samsung Omnia HD has had a lot of things said about it. But the biggest USP of this product is the camera. This baby rocks an 8 megapixel camera that does recording in HD (1280 x 720) at 24fps.

Let’s see in detail how the Omnia HD performs in this critical section, since this is the strongest point on it.

20102009080

Samsung, today makes some of the highest megapixel count camera-phones in the world today. At 8MP, which is the current standard for high end phones, this camera is good. The Omnia HD has a lot of options and presets to help you get the most out of it. The interface on the Omnia HD’s camera is better than the Nokia solution on it’s touchscreen devices too. The only part where it loses out is the inclusion of a single LED flash. Without adequate flash, this phone cannot be used to capture anything in a dark area, as the results will be anything but acceptable. Continue reading “Samsung Omnia HD Review Part-4: Camera”

Symbian^3 Concept Screenshots remind us that Symbian is still Alive and Kicking

The folks at AAS love Symbian for sure and they bring us some great screenshots of the Symbian^3 which was shown off at Nokia Capital Markets day yesterday where Nokia even announced plans for Dual SIM phones and a Maemo 6 powered device in 2010.  Many were speculating that Symbian does not have a future and that Nokia might ditch Symbian for Maemo. But this does not seem the case. Nokia is going to be releasing phones in S40, Symbian and Maemo next year.  The screenshots are only from the Concept stage but still they are refreshing . Actual devices might obviously differ when they are announced in first half of 2010

Multiple Homescreen support .  We have been craving for multiple homescreens on Symbian ever since N900 got it.

Samsung Omnia HD Review Part-3: Software and Accessories

Scr000004In this rather late third part of the review of the Omnia HD, we bring to you a low down on the software that makes the Omnia HD a performer.

As you all know the Omnia HD is Samsung’s first S60 5th edition device and the third touch screen S60 phone to be launched. Samsung with a good experience in touch screen phones, has for some reason failed to deliver a product that sets it apart from an N97 or a 5800. Sure, in terms of the hardware and the camera performance, the Omnia HD is one helluva performer, but some downright silly niggles keep the Omnia HD from becoming a high seller. The good part of it, a firmware update can easily fix it. Continue reading “Samsung Omnia HD Review Part-3: Software and Accessories”

Not only did we land a prototype of the Sony Ericsson Satio and show it to you in intricate details, but we were also able to pit it head to head against its concurrence, with Nokia’s current lineup of similar S60 5th Edition devices: the Nokia N97, 5800 XpressMusic and the most recent X6.

The comparison will look shortly at the software differences between the Satio and the current S60 5th Edition UI from Nokia (which we will develop in another post with some very long video reviews), then it will focus at the hardware side-by-side comparison with the 3 devices.

Sony Ericsson Satio (Idou) Photo Gallery

The Sony Ericsson Satio, previously known as the Idou, has been announced as a concept device during Mobile World Congress 2009. They do know that computers run on windows or mac or linux for a handful but they are completely unaware of what their mobile is running on.That was the whole point of my starting the blog. I’m sure all know what Nseries and Eseries are but S60 is what lies in the background. So here is a quick look at what S60 OS is all about.
