oppo-n1-pioneers-program-99

Oppo, the company behind striking devices like the Find 5 and the R819 recently unveiled its camera flagship, the Oppo N1, with a list of “First!” things like O-Touch rear sensor and a rotating swivel for the 13 Megapixel camera, which is touted as one of the best. Of course, like any other company, they require a good amount of word of mouth to get people excited about a new and innovative product. Companies like Nokia regularly get enthusiasts and regular users who are really creative to play around with their devices and register their experiences, and Oppo is looking to do something similar. They are looking for 10 really awesome people who can share their experiences with the world on every aspect of the N1. The benefits include device ownership for just $99 and better, getting to use it before the world.

Oppo to be the first to bring Lytro-like MultiFocus to its Phones with DigitalOptics’ MEMS camera

oppo-r819-review-21

It was rumoured that the new Google Nexus 5 might sport a new DigitalOptics MEMS camera, but the company has come out of the shadows to claim that the reports were inaccurate, but it also provided us with new information that Oppo, not LG, is going to be the first company in the world to use its Multi-Focus capable 8 Megapixel MEMS camera unit. To say Oppo is serious about cameras on its phones is an understatement. Even the Oppo R819, as noted in our review, has a great camera for the price and the N1’s 13 megapixel camera is touted as being superior to others. And marching on, the company is all set to use the innovative Lytro-like multi focus cameras on its phones.

Oppo R819 Review

oppo-r819-review-1

Oppo, a relatively new player in the Smartphone world, had already impressed us with the beautifully made Find 5, its current flagship device. But as any company that looks to expand its portfolio, Oppo has sought to address the mid-range market, which brings volume as well as the ability to reach more people. The R819 is a step in that direction. Armed with a 4.7 inch 720p display, a super thin 7.3mm profile and an 8 megapixel camera, the device is a decent cut-down in specifications when compared to the Find 5, literally in every sense, including thickness and weight. Oppo is now getting into the very similar yet extremely crowded mid-range category, but does the R819 impress enough to stand out? Read on for our fully detailed review below.

Note: Check out the 360 degree view of the Oppo R819 before proceeding towards the full review!

Oppo has been constantly teasing the officially confirmed N1, the first in the series of camera centric flagship devices from the Chinese manufacturer. This time, they have revealed that the device is going to sport a huge 5.9 inch screen, which negates the earlier leaked specifications that the device will sport a 5.5 inch display. They have also revealed the front wireframe, which looks remarkably similar to the earlier leaked images, confirming the authenticity of the leaks. It was revealed to have a back-side touch sensor to navigate in a completely different way, adding to the fact that it might sport a really good camera.

Oppo R819 now available for a AUD 399$ pre order in Australia, Japan and Hong Kong

r819-1

We just saw Oppo reveal their latest smartphone, the R819, an effort to make a well engineered smartphone that’s not too hard on your wallet. Speaking of your wallet, we have just been notified that the R819 is now available for pre order in three countries, namely Australia, Japan and Hong Kong. For 399$ in AUD, the device seems a bit pricier for the specs, but since this is just a pre order price, we reserve judgement until Oppo reveals their global price in USD. People from Hong Kong can get it for HK$2,798 and the Japanese can get it for 36,000 JPY, all from the third party retailer online retailer Expansys.

Update: The official Oppo Style site has now listed the R819 for a 349$ USD(roughly converts to 21K INR) pre order.

Oppo reveals the R819, 4.7 inch 720p display in a 7.3mm thin and 110g light body

oppo-find-mirror-r819

Oppo, the Chinese company well known for its flagship product – the Oppo Find 5, has just revealed the latest product in its portfolio, the R819. The Oppo R819 comes with a stunningly svelte frame, measuring just 7.3mm in thickness and weighing 110g in weight. Although this is thicker than the company’s own 6.65mm Finder smartphone, it is still a considerable achievement due to all the modern specs the device boasts. It has a 4.7 inch 1280×720 resolution IPS screen that promises to have really good viewing angles thanks OGS(One glass solution). Other specs are pretty normal, which includes a 8 megapixel camera and a MediaTek MT6589 Quad Core processor. It runs on Android 4.2.1 JellyBean but can run Oppo’s own Color ROM as well as the stock Android ROM thanks to the unlocked bootloader out of the box.

Oppo N-Lens N1 cameraphone renders leak out, show off the 12 megapixel camera

oppo-n-lens-12-megapixel-camera-2

We recently saw Oppo, the company behind awesome hardware like the Find 5, officially confirming that they are indeed working on camera centric devices with the codename “N-Lens” as future flagships. However, contrary to what we had head before, the company is set out to produce cameraphones rather than connected cameras. We believed it was going to be competition with the Galaxy NX or the Galaxy Camera but if the very recently leaked renders are to be believed, Oppo is all set to launch its cameraphones, starting with the N-Lens N1 which has leaked in renders, one of them shown above.

Oppo has just confirmed to Engadget on a previous scoop that they are indeed developing a new series of camera centric devices dubbed the “N-Lens”. These devices are more of connected cameras and less of cameraphones if the initial information is to be believed. But, the company also says that the N-Lens series of devices will be “most important flagship series for Oppo going forward.”

Oppo is reportedly the second most profitable mobile phone company in China

oppo-find-5-photos-29

Oppo, a smartphone and consumer electronics company from China has been responsible for smartphones like the Finder and more recently, the Find 5. Surprisingly, for a small company like Oppo, news comes by the way of China’s  Entrepreneur magazine that it is the second most profitable mobile phone company in the country. For a market as big as China, this certainly seems like good news for a relatively unknown company.

Is Oppo working on a Windows Phone device?

oppo-windows-phone

Oppo, a chinese smartphone manufacturer known and revered for the Find 5, a smartphone that we immensely loved, is reportedly looking into launching Windows Phone based handsets soon. If the teased renders from the company’s own director of social marketing are to be believed, the manufacturer is looking at producing Windows Phone 8 based devices. The Android running Oppo Find 5 has stunning hardware, as noted in our review, and the company had released a very limited red version of it, which you are seeing above. Showing off the Windows Phone UI on the equally minimalistic Oppo Find 5 hardware has gotten us excited.
