Nokia officially sells HERE Maps to Audi, BMW and Mercedes for $3.07 billion

Nokia has officially sold HERE Maps to three German carmakers – Audi, BMW and Mercedes for Euro 2.8 billion ($3.1 billion). The announcement comes days after the deal was reported last month.

Nokia confirms its plan to enter smartphone biz, seeks partner for brand manufacturing

Nokia has officially confirmed that it is entering the smartphone business and it is seeking for a partner. The Finnish smartphone maker will license its brand to a partner that can manufacture and sell phones as well as provide marketing and customer support.

In a major organization reshuffle, Microsoft has announced the departure of two key executives. Stephen Elop, ex CEO of Nokia, had helmed the sale of the erstwhile smartphone giant to Microsoft. Jo Harlow, a high ranking member of the Nokia leadership, is also departing from the company. Harlow reported directly to Stephen Elop and was instrumental in the decision to kill future feature phones and also the Android powered X series of phones.
