HERE Maps has signed a multi-year strategic commercial agreement with Microsoft to where the later will leverage former’s map data and platform services in the development of its products and services. In fact, Microsoft was already using Here data in Bing Maps (Bing.com, Cortana and other services) and Bing Maps API. Apparently Audi, BMW and Daimler have decided to join forces in order to purchase the HERE mapping division from Nokia. It seems that they have agreed to purchase it “in principle”.
HERE is making high-definition (HD) mapping data of sections of public roads in US, France, Germany and Japan to all automotive companies to support their highly automated vehicle initiatives.
HERE Maps has released a public beta program for Android which will let people test latest app feature with a new shortcut menu accessible from a single press anywhere on the map.
HERE announced that it has partnered with BMW to create a new driving experience. Dubbed as “Intelligent Drive,” it utilizes Nokia’s HERE navigation and mapping services.

HERE Maps has finally landed on the Google Play Store. The maps and navigational app from Nokia is available as a free download for Android devices.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Nokia is planning to to launch a free maps app on Android and iOS by the end of 2014. APK for the beta version of Android HERE maps was posted to Mediafire last week and was spotted by Spanish Android site El Android Libre.

Nokia has scooped yet another start-up to enhance its offerings for HERE Maps. The company has acquired Medio Systems, a real-time predictive analytics firm for an undisclosed sum. It will use Medio’s technology to give users of its location-based services more personalised results and maps.

As promised by Nokia, the Finnish smartphone manufacturer has delivered by publishing its Nokia Maps Here Maps app on the iTunes store. We went hands on with the application to check it out and to find out if it could be a legitimate alternative to the missing Google Maps app on iOS.
Nokia today introduced its cloud offering to deliver its premier maps and location experience across multiple platforms and screens. Called HERE, Nokia plans to introduce a range of new location services to provide a significantly more personal experience for users.
