Palm Pixi is Official, joins the webOS family
Palm announced the Pixi last week and its the latest entrant to the webOS family of handsets. The official announcement indicated that is phone is coming out this Q4 on Sprint in USA. The phone promises the same kick-ass UI as the Pre with Multitasking,Synergy for Contacts, Notifications and Search. Nokia N900 can be Customized by Operators
The Nokia N900 has been creating waves across the world ever since the pictures of the first Linux based Phone were spotted on the interwebs. The Maemo based phone was unveiled few days before Nokia World and more details including the price were announced at the event. Nokia had indicated that the price of the phone in various markets will depend a lot on the subsidies possible in the market. But recently there were some reports that Nokia is not going to allow operators to customize the N900 the way they allowed AT&T to customize E71x for example. Some reports even suggested that Operators might reject the N900 due to this restriction. But Nokia has posted an explanation on its Conversations Blog indicating that the reports are not accurate and that Nokia is looking forward to work with operators to provide the best consumer experience.

You might have already seen that the Samsung Star sold 5 million units in record time. Now Samsung is doing something really smart to sell more Star phones. Its coming out with the Star WiFi which is technically the same as the Star except for the Wi-Fi. The new phone has been announced in the middle east and is expected to be available in Asia and the Middle East soon.

Apple is getting tougher against unlockers with each firmware update to the iPhone. Yesterday the 3.1 update was released. The iphonedev team which released pwnage tools to unlock even the 3GS is sending out a warning message.
3G+3GS unlockers must still stay far away from official 3.1. There’s no known way to revert from 3.1’s 3G+3GS baseband
This message comes from MuscleNerd who is part of the team which releases the unlocking tools . What this means that there is no way to re-virginize the 3G and 3GS phones once you upgrade to 3.1 .

Samsung Blogger Meet @ TGIF, Delhi
This past Saturday, saw Samsung did something which it does not do. Till now, Nokia was the only active company which ‘cultivates’ a league of bloggers, but it is not so. Samsung seems to have clearly declared ‘war’ on all fronts. Fonearena was also invited to the event at T.G.I.F, Vasant Kunj in Delhi. Since it was the first that Samsung was doing, we just had to go.
iPhone OS 3.1 is out
Apple has just announced the release of iPhone OS 3.1 in its Rock And Roll event that happened today.
The new update brings in many important changes like:
- Genius Recommendations for Apps = Get recommendations for apps you might like based on apps you’ve already bought/downloaded from the App store.
- Genius Mixes = iTunes can now create up to 12 playlists based on what’s already there on your iTunes library. and unlike the Genius feature, you now don’t have to choose a sample song as well.
- A Brand New Ringtone Store = Choose from a wide variety of ringtones on the iTunes store with over 30.000 ringtones available for 1.29$ / each ringtone.
- Organize Apps in iTunes = You can now use iTunes to drag and drop apps onto your virtual Home screens on your computer, then sync them back onto your iPhone/iPod Touch.
iPhone 3.1 Update also brings in many other changes like:
- Improved syncing for music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and photos.
- iTunes U content organization.
- Redeem iTunes Gift Cards, codes, and certificates in the App Store.
- Display available iTunes account credits in the App Store and iTunes Store.
- Save video from Mail and MMS into Camera Roll.
- Option to “Save as new clip” when trimming a video on iPhone 3GS.
- Better iPhone 3G Wi-Fi performance when Bluetooth is turned on.
- Remotely lock iPhone with a passcode via MobileMe.
- Use Voice Control on iPhone 3GS with Bluetooth headsets.
- Paste phone numbers into the keypad.
- Option to use Home button to turn on accessibility features on iPhone 3GS.
- Warn when visiting fraudulent websites in Safari (anti-phishing).
- Improved Exchange calendar syncing and invitation handling.
- Fixes issue that cause some app icons to display incorrectly.
It is available for download right now! So if you have an iPhone/iPod Touch, I would recommend you to upgrade to version 3.1 now.
However if you have a unlocked and jailbroken iPhone, I would recommend you to not update to OS 3.1 right away and hold on for a while until the you hear anything from the iPhone Dev Team.
