LG has announced that the LG Optimus G Pro (L-04E) is now on sale in Japan from NTT Docomo. It was announced earlier this year as the part of NTT Docomo’s Spring lineup in the docomo NEXT series. It packs a 5-inch (1920×1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display, powered by 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The Japanese variant is smaller than the International version that was unveiled in February. Google launches Blink rendering engine based on Webkit

Google has announced today that it is forking Webkit to launch a brand new rendering engine called Blink. Blink will be focussed on speed and simplicity and will be a part of Chromium. The rendering engine will also power future versions of the Chrome app for phones and tablets.

Twitter updates its mobile apps, Android version goes HOLO

Twitter, the world’s only realtime social network has updated its mobile apps today. It includes a major update for Android and minor updates for Twitter for iPhone and the mobile web app. The main improvement of the Android app is that it has finally went HOLO, the design language that Google has been preaching to third party devs since 4.0 ICS, with blessings from lead designer Matias Duarte. Minor improvements to all the apps is that they get improved cards support with deep linked app links inside the details page.

SkyDrive updated for iOS, brings iPhone 5 support and high resolution image downloads

SkyDrive, the cloud storage solution from Microsoft has its app updated for iOS finally, after a long time. The reason it took so long was due to Apple wanting a cut from Microsoft for an in-app subscription model for SkyDrive storage upgrades, initially planned for the iOS app. The app was reportedly re submitted a number of times until now, when Apple and Microsoft have finally come into a consensus on what to do with the IAP type subscription. Microsoft now doesn’t have an option for storage upgrade inside the app but users can always upgrade the storage from the web.

Samsung Galaxy Win  (GT-I8552) press images and specifications have surfaced on a Vietnamese retail site mainguyen. The features of the are slightly better than the Galaxy S2 Plus that went on sale in India recently. It is expected to come with a 4.7-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen display and run on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) with Touchwiz UI and Nature UX. The site listing says that it would be powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 chip with Adreno 203 GPU, but the Vietnamese site tinhte.vn speculates that it might feature a Snapdragon 200 processor. Asus Transformer Pad Infinity Android 4.2 update starts rolling out

Asus has announced that the Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OTA (over-the-air) update v 10.6.1.14.4 for the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T would start roll out starting from today.  The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity was announced last year at MWC with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It received the Android 4.1 update last year, and promised the Android 4.2 update for the TF700T in Q2 2013 last month . The Asus Transformer Pad TF300 was the first non-Nexus tablet to receive the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update, which rolled out last month. Nokia Lumia 520 now available on Snapdeal for a price of Rs. 10,390

Nokia Lumia 520, the cheapest Windows Phone 8 device till date was recently launched in India with availability dates promised around the second week of April, but jumping ahead, it has now appeared on Snapdeal, one of the online marketplaces for phones in India. It is showing up as available for Rs. 10,390 with delivery slate as “dispatched within 15 business days” which is normal for any phone they sell. The low-mid end Windows Phone 8 device was initially set to launch globally in Q2, but, India being an important market and following the relatively good success of the Lumia 510, it seems to have been prioritized for India, which is great news for budget smartphone buyers.

Quickoffice for Android and iOS now available for Google Apps for Business users

Back in June 2012, Google had acquired Quickoffice to strengthen its mobile productivity suite offerings. The company has now rolled out the application to Google Apps for Business customers. The application has already been available on the iPad but now Google and iPhone users too can edit Microsoft Office files using the application on their devices.

BlackBerry Z10 had launched in India with a hefty price tag, and BlackBerry knows that people who buy expensive phones will need complimenting accessories too, and hence came a bunch of audio accessories in India, along with the Z10. We had taken a look at the Mini Stereo Speaker, which was a compact clip-like Bluetooth stereo speaker with auxiliary audio output, and now we are taking a look at the BlackBerry Music Gateway, which partly mimics the auxiliary functionality of the stereo speaker, in a much smaller form factor. Samsung has announced Galaxy Pocket Neo and Galaxy Star, two new Android smartphones in the Galaxy series. The Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo is the upgraded version of the last year’s Galaxy Pocket and the Galaxy Star is a budget phone with 2G EDGE support. Both these phones have a 3-inch (320 x 240 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and has a 2-megapixel rear camera. The Galaxy Pocket Neo is powered by a 850 MHz processor and the Galaxy Star has a 1 GHz processor. Both these phones would come in Dual SIM variants with Always On feature that would forward calls to the other SIM, depending on the market.
