OnePlus has been revealing the specifications of the upcoming OnePlus 15R smartphone for the past few weeks ahead of the launch on December 17th. Today, the company has confirmed the front camera details of the phone.
Camera Upgrades
The OnePlus 15R will feature a 32-megapixel selfie camera. This marks a doubling of the megapixel count compared to the 16-megapixel sensor found in the OnePlus 13R.
Additionally, OnePlus has confirmed two significant “firsts” for the R Series:
- Autofocus: The front camera will now support autofocus, aimed at improving image clarity.
- 4K Video Recording: The device will support 4K video recording at 30 frames per second (fps) on the front camera, an upgrade from the 1080p limitation of the previous model.
Regarding the rear camera system, OnePlus stated that the 15R will utilize the “DetailMax Engine,” which was recently introduced in the OnePlus 15. This integration brings specific computational photography algorithms to the R-series, including Ultra Clear Mode, Clear Burst, and the Clear Night Engine. The main camera will also support 4K video recording at 120 fps.
Regarding internal specifications, OnePlus already confirmed that the 15R series will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. The company states that this processor has been “co-defined and co-optimized” for the handset and marks the first global availability of this specific chipset in a device. Additionally, the smartphone will be equipped with a 7,400 mAh battery.
The OnePlus 15R will be available for purchase via Amazon.in, in addition to OnePlus India website. The smartphone is scheduled to be fully revealed at a launch event in Bengaluru on December 17. The event will be livestreamed, and tickets for physical attendance are currently available via BookMyShow.
