ASUS Transformer pad TF300 is the first non Nexus tablet to receive Android 4.2

ASUS has just announced that the Transformer pad TF300 is receiving the Android 4.2 JellyBean update over the air right now. This entry level Transformer pad was launched in India as the TF300TG, last September. This model too, will be receiving the update, but not immediately, unlike the United States version, which is starting today. Interesting fact is that the TF300 is the first non Nexus Android device to get the Android 4.2 update. So far, the update track record for most ASUS devices has been excellent!

The ASUS transformer was one of those ground breaking tablets that turned a lot of heads, and right from the start, they have been having the latest version of Android software. The TF300 launched with Android ICS but was quickly updated to 4.1 Jellybean, and now, to 4.2 Jellybean, complete with multi user accounts, quick status toggles and a variety of ASUS specific performance and stability improvements.

In the press release, ASUS says –

ASUS is committed to providing the best customer experience, and is the first manufacturer to receive Android 4.2 for partnered tablets. The ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity, ASUS MeMO Pad Smart 10″, and ASUS MeMO Pad will receive Android 4.2 in Q2.

So, from what we see above, all the new devices launched, like the PadFone infinity, the MeMO Pad, etc are slated to receive Android 4.2 in Q2 of this year, which is great. So, do you have a TF300 and have gotten the update already? Do let us know in the comments section below.
