Samsung Illusion for Verizon leaked specs emerge

The detailed specs of Samsung Illusion has leaked out from the Verizon Infocenter and the guys from the androidcentral has got hold of the specs page. This is expected to be entry-level handset that looks like Nexus S with the capacitive touch buttons, rounded edges and a textured back, but comes with a SD card slot and Samsung TouchWiz UI. First OTA update for iOS – 5.0.1 now rolling out to iPhone , iPad and iPod Touch

Looks like Apple finally has an answer for the battery issue surrounding the iPhone 4S. Apple has released the first Over-the-Air update for all iOS devices running on iOs 5 such as the iPhone 3GS, 4 , 4S, iPad , iPad2 , iPod Touch ( 3rd gen and 4th Gen). The update is available Over-the-air meaning you won’t have to download a 700 odd MB file and use iTunes to update your device. In fact I have managed to update 2 iPhones and an iPod touch in a matter of minutes as the OTA update was just 44.6 MB for my iPhone.It would have taken to few hours or days required to download few GBs of files normally. The mysterious story of the Apple iPhone 4S not working in India

If you are one amongst consumers who had purchased the iPhone 4S from outside India and were facing issues getting it to work here , good news for you. Many users including me were seeing no signal bars on the iPhone 4S in India. Calls and SMS were not working.Surprisingly 3G data was working fine on most operators including Airtel , Vodafone and BSNL. I had tried using some international SIM cards such as AT&T, T-Mobile , O2 UK, 3 UK, SmarTone (HK). Google Translate for iPhone now supports 5 Indian languages

Google Translate for iPhone has been updated to version 1.2.0 that brings 5 new Indian language support the include, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. This feature is already available for the Google Translate for desktop and the web app since June. The Google Translate for iPhone was launched earlier this year and has received some minor updates since then. With the new addition, the app now supports text translation among 63 languages, voice input in 17 of those languages, and text-to-speech in 24 of them. RIM’s BBX smartphones to come with PlayBook like display and BES support

RIM’s new BBX smartphones may come with better specs that is similar to the BlackBerry PlayBook and not look like the BlackBerry Bold says the RIM’s vice president of Developer Relations and Ecosystem Development, Alec Saunders in an interview with PC Mag. The BlackBerry BBX phones would have 16:9 aspect ratio and 1024 x 600 resolution display similar to the BlackBerry PlayBook unlike the 800 x 480 resolution displays in the recently launched BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Torch 2 smartphones. The resolution is also different from other phones that come HD resolution (1028 x 720 pixels) displays such as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, HTC Rezound and the LG Optimus LTE. ARM unveils Mali-T658 GPU, promises 10x graphics performance than Current-Gen GPU

ARM has announced the new Mali-T658 GPU that offers 10 times the performance than current-Gen GPU, Mali-400 MP GPU that is used in the mainstream consumer devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S II. This also offers 4 times the processing power of Mali-T604 and also offers a range of performance and API support than that of all currently available embedded GPUs that offers better uses such as traditional graphics processing, including  HD gaming, computational photography, image-processing and augmented reality. RIM to continue developing Flash Player for BlackBerry PlayBook


RIM (Research in Motion) has announced that they would continue working on and releasing its own implementations of Flash Player in the future. Yesterday, Adobe announced that it is stopping development of Flash Player for mobile browsers and mobile devices and focus more on HTML5 development. Micromax A85 now available in India for Rs.18990

Micromax A85, the company’s first high-end Android phone is now available in India. It is branded as Micromax Superfone A85 and it is powered by a 1 GHz Dual Core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo) that is  upgradable to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It has gesture controls in Contacts, Call Logs, Messaging, Email, Calendar, Gallery and Music Player and also has voice controls. It has 3.8-inch (480 x 800 Pixels) capacitive touch screen display with gorilla glass to protect it from scratches, 5MP camera and 0.3MP front video calling camera. Nokia holding Windows Phone event on Nov 14th in India


Nokia India just sent us an invite for a launch event on Nov 14th. The invite talks about Amazing New Experiences. We are betting this is the India launch of the Windows Phone devices.  Nokia announced the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 devices at Nokia World 2011 last month where the company promised to bring these devices to India before the end of the year. The Lumia 710 would be coming first followed by the Lumia 800 from what we have learnt. Interestingly both these devices use a microSIM card  like the iPhone 4 , 4s and Nokia N9. Would be interesting to see how operators address this issue. Pricing wise the Lumia 710 is expected to be cheaper than the 800 and the stated pricing is 270 euros and the device can come at around Rs.20,000

NVIDIA has unveiled the world’s first Quad-Core Tegra 3 processor for tablets and mobile phones. This is said to offer PC-class performance levels, better battery life and better mobile experiences (Better web experience, faster applications and multitasking) in tablets and mobile phones.This was previously named, Project Kal-El that was confirmed by the Nvidia CEO in AsiaD last month.
