Micromax Funbook P365 and Funbook P256 with 7-inch display now available

Micromax Funbook P365

Two new Micromax Funbook tablets, the Micromax Funbook P365 and the Funbook P256 are available  online. These tablets have a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display. The Funbook P365 is  powered by a 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 processor with Mali 400 GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). The Funbook P256 is powered by a 1.2 GHz single-core Cortex A8 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The P365 comes with a 2G SIM slot and voice calling, while the P256 doesn’t have a SIM slot. Both these support 3G via dongle. Pebble Steel Hands on

CES 2014 was expected to be filled with wearable gadgets and we weren’t disappointed or excited. Almost all the leading manufacturers now have their own version of wearable technology, most in the form of smartwatches. Pebble, one of the KickStarter successes is also a smartwatch company and it announced the second generation Pebble Steel at CES 2014. Asus PadFone Mini Hands on

Among the numerous Android smartphones and tablets that Asus showcased at CES 2014 was its trademark PadFone device. However, unlike the previous iterations of PadFone series, this year, Asus has decided to tone down a little in terms of specifications. The yesteryear PadFone devices had top of the draw specifications, but this year’s Asus PadFone Mini is a more subtle yet affordable PadFone offering. Lava has launched the Iris Pro 30, the company’s latest flagship smartphone finally after several delays. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display based on OGS technology and Corning Gorilla glass protection, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. The phone is 7.5mm thick and weighs just 114 grams since it uses magnesium alloy body. The phone has CABC (Content Adaptive backlight control) screen brightness regulation technology that automatically reduces screen brightness for 30% more battery life. Asus Vivotab Note 8 Hands on

Asus launched a lot of Android devices at the CES 2014 alongwith a few Windows based devices. Among the few Windows based devices that it announced, the Asus Vivotab Note 8 is one. It is the company’s first 8inch Windows 8.1 tablet. With the Asus Vivotab Note 8, Asus joins the bandwagon of companies that are interested in the 8inch Windows tablet market. Micromax launched the Canvas Viva A72, the company’s first budget phone in the Canvas series last April. Now the Micromax A71 has appeared on Flipkart with similar screen, but has more RAM and has 3G support. It has a 5-inch (480 x 800 Pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It  has a 2-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It also comes with dual SIM support as usual. Asus ZenFone 4 vs ZenFone 5 vs ZenFone 6 Size Comparison

Amidst a flurry of Android and Windows tablets and laptops, Asus unveiled a new series of Android smartphones at CES 2014. The new series of smartphones, Asus ZenFone series, comprises of three smartphones – ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6. Each of the smartphones is named based on their screen size and all these offerings fall in the entry and mid-range category. Despite being different in terms of internals and sizing, the three smartphones share almost a similar design language and you can check out the comparison between the three devices in the video right below.

Huawei introduces its first 64bit octa-core SoC

Huawei CEO, Richard Yu, took to Chinese micro-blogging site, Weibo, to announce the company’s new offerings in the mobile processor segment. The new chipsets includes two octa core chips and a quad core SoC.

Tell me voice assistant aka Cortana rumoured to launch on Windows Phone this April

Long rumoured voice assistant, codenamed “Cortana”, is all set to make its beta appearance on Windows Phone, starting April 2014, according to a very credible source – @msftnerd. The Siri-like feature is reportedly voiced by Jen Taylor, who actually did the voice acting for Cortana, an AI character in the hit game-series “Halo”. The voice assistant, which might carry the name “Bing Tell me”, will launch for developers, in beta, in April, which coincides with the Build 2014 Developer event by Microsoft. “Build” is where Microsoft plans to unveil information about the next release of Windows, codenamed Threshold.

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, a cheaper version of last year’s Tab 3. This has a 7-inch (1024×600) TFT LCD display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI on top. It has a 2-megapixel rear camera. The Xolo Q3000 is the first device from the company to incorporate a full HD 1080p screen. Yes, it took a while for Xolo to do that, as we saw the 5.5 inch Q2000 sporting a 720p screen even when it had the MT6589 Turbo inside. But with the Q3000, Xolo has its first 5.7″ device as well as its first 1080p phone, so we felt it would be pretty interesting to check this phone out.
