With the shipments of smartphones and tablets increasing, the PC industry is facing the heat of this shift. IDC, the company that predicts trends and reports them has reported the decline of PC sales in 2013. According to IDC, this is the most severe contraction in the PC market ever and they predict that it will continue. PC shipments were expected to decline by 10.1% but they declined by around 9.8%.

Huawei Ascend P6 was the phone that was supposed to push Huawei into the International market as a notable manufacturer, but it din’t succeed as much as they company would have loved. But nevertheless, it was a great phone with exceptional build quality. The Huawei Ascend P6 was launched with Android 4.2.2 Jellybean on board overlaid by Huawei’s Emotion UI 1.6. Huawei had assured us that they would be upgrading the device to Android 4.4.2 KitKat and true to their word, they have already started rolling out the update in China.

Xiaomi, popular for its Mi series of smartphones in China was rumored to launch a tablet last year, but it didn’t happen. A device codenamed Xiaomi HM 1AC has surfaced on GFXBench with some specifications. According to the benchmarks, it would have a 9.2-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display, powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 GPU and run on custom MiUI ROM based on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). SpiceJet, popular Indian airline, has launched their mobile mobile exclusively on the Windows Phone Store. The app has been available on the Store for over two months, looks like they have planned to officially launch it today. The app lets you book tickets, check flight status and also avail special promotional offers. Nokia has partnered with SpiceJet to launch the app to Windows Phone Store.

Sony Mobile has launched the Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 dual in India. These smartphones were announced back in January and packs a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). These have a 3-megapixel rear camera and offer 100dB loud audio output through rear speakers. These have Walkman key, shake to shuffle and hardware controls for easy music control. When Google announced their $35 HDMI dongle in 2013, everybody saw a lot of potential for Google Chromecast. But Google had been little slow in opening up the SDK for the developers and it looks like it is slowly catching up. As of March 2014, you can now stream the videos from a webpage on your Google Chrome browser to your TV.
Google has introduced indoor Maps in India finally, that lets you determine where you are, what floor you’re on, and where to go indoors and more, when you are visiting popular venues such as malls, supermarkets etc. Google Maps for Android got the Indoor maps feature back in 2011, later it was updated to support walking directions. Adobe has released the Adobe Revel app for Android devices. This lets you edit your photos with built-in tools such as Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12. It also lets you create a group library to share images. Adobe already has Adobe GroupPix for collaborative photo sharing and Photoshop Express for editing. Micromax unveiled the Canvas Knight A350 at an event in Russia, back in January. The company has launched the smartphone in India as it promised last month. The Canvas Knight has a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 2 GHz octa-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). LG announced the G Pad 8.3 tablet back in September last year. It introduced the G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition in December, that we reviewed recently. LG has released the G Pad 8.3 LTE exclusively on Verizon Wireless in the US. Except the LTE support via SIM card slot, other features are similar to the original LG G Pad 8.3. It has a 8-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) full HD display, quad-core 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Android Jelly Bean OS.
