Japan Display Inc. announced 5.4-inch WQHD (1,440 x 2,560 pixels) display at 543 ppi for smartphones back in October last year. Today JDI has unveiled 5.46-inch WQHD (1,440 x 2,560 pixels) display at 538 ppi for smartphones. Oppo unveiled the Find 7 earlier this month that uses the same Quad HD LCD panel from JDI. It also launched Find 7a with a 1080p panel, which would go on sale first. The Find 7 with Quad HD screen is expected sometime around May or June. Dell Venue 8 Unboxing
We might have reviewed the Dell Venue 8 Pro way ahead of its Indian reveal, but the tablet trio, that includes two other Android tablets, launched only a while back. Dell’s Venue 7 and 8 were Android tablets with two different screen sizes with largely the same specifications inside. Powered by an Intel processor, these tablets are placed at the mid range segment of the marketplace, which is the most popular segment for Android tablets these days. The Venue 8 is priced at Rs. 17,499, which might be a bit high when compared to the competition like the new Nexus 7, but is it good enough? Facebook Messenger 4.0 for Android and iPhone brings Groups and Forwarding
Facebook has updated its Facebook Messenger app for Android and iPhone to version 4.0. This update finally brings group messaging, just like WhatsApp and Google Hangouts. You can also name the group. The new Forwarding feature lets you forward any message to others who are not in the conversation. Apple reportedly launching iPhone 6 in 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch versions in September
Apple is planning to launch the iPhone 6 in two variants, one with a 4.7-inch screen and other one with a 5.5-inch screen, according to a report from Japanese business newspaper Nikkei. These are expected to have high-resolution screens significantly higher than that of current models. Apple launched the iPhone 5s last September along with the iPhone 5c with a 4 inch retina display. It was officially announced earlier this month and packs a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera without flash and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. This is the company’s first phone powered by a MediaTek chip. Microsoft releases Microsoft Office for Apple iPad – Word , Excel and PowerPoint
At an event in San Francisco today, Microsoft’s new CEO Satya Nadella announced the availability of Microsoft Office for the iPad. The company has released 3 new iPad apps for Word , Excel and PowerPoint . The news is not a big surprise considering this is a much expected move but instant availability on the App Store is a great piece of news of Office users especially those with a Office 365 subscription. The apps are free for download and event viewing office documents is free. But editing the documents requires an active Office 365 subscription. This is clearly Microsoft’s attempt at getting more users to sign up for their cloud based Office offering.

Microsoft unveiled the much awaited Microsoft Office suite for iPad with 3 separate apps for Word , Excel and Powerpoint. The apps just went live on the US iTunes App Store at 11AM Pacific time and 2PM Eastern time. The apps are free to download and viewing office documents is free. However to edit the documents, an Office 365 subscription is required.

Dell to pay Microsoft tax for its Android and Chrome OS devices
Dell is not just one of the biggest PC makers out there, but also a close ally to Microsoft, with the latter recently helping out when the company went private. But being an independent company, Dell did make its foray into other platforms, with Android, and eventually even Chrome OS, both Google products. So, naturally, much like any other OEM, Dell is now in a patent licensing agreement with Microsoft where it will pay royalties for its products based on Android and Chrome OS. But surprisingly, even Microsoft is licensing some patents from Dell for its Xbox gaming consoles, making this deal more balanced than usual.
