Asus launched the Zenfone series in India last month. These smartphones already got some minor updates soon after the launch for bug fixes, now the company has released a new over-the-air (OTA) update (V1.16.40.8_20140725_9834) for the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 smartphones. TRAI reportedly looking to put fee on WhatsApp, Viber and other OTT players
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is working on discussion paper on OTT service providers that could implement charges for over-the-top (OTT) players of apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Skype etc, according to a report from Business Today. It wants them to pay connectivity charges to telecom companies and share revenue with the government as well. Intel powered 7 inch Asus tablet spotted by FCC
A 7 inch Asus tablet has been spotted at FCC that is expected to have the Intel 64-bit Moorefield processor called the Atom Z3560. The tablet which carries a model number K007 is might come with IPS LCD panel which offers a resolution of 1200 by 1920 pixels.

It has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display based on one-glass-solution technology, powered by a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592T processor with Mali 450 GPU and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat), but this doesn’t have HIVE UI like the 8X-1000.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition officially taken down from Play Store
Google is continuing to remove old Google Play Edition devices from the Play Store. Last month, it took down devices like Sony Xperia Z Ultra, LG G Pad 8.3 and HTC One (M7) from the Play Store. Today, Google has announced that it has dropped Samsung Galaxy S4 from the list as well.

Apple iPhone event scheduled for September 9 : Report
Apple is all set to unveil its next iPhone at an event scheduled on Septmber 9, according to a report from Re/Code. Apple and Samsung to end all their patent disputes outside the US
Samsung and Apple announced in a joint statement that they will drop all ongoing patent lawsuits outside the U.S. However, the smartphone rivals have not yet settled the dispute. The two companies have sued each other in a total of eight countries viz, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Netherlands, the UK, France, and Italy, and all these cases are being dropped, without being settled and without any cross-licensing agreements being negotiated.
