Google and Lava International plan to release a new low-cost Android One smartphone in India in coming months, according to a report from WSJ. With the reboot, Google aims to give users in developing economies an inexpensive way to get online through its Android mobile operating system and win more customers in fast-growing emerging markets, adds the report. Facebook’s news app Notify tipped to launch next week

In August, it was reported that Facebook will launch a standalone mobile news app. Now, a fresh report from the Financial Times states that the news app will be launched as early as next week and it will be called as ‘Notify’.

Oppo A53 with 5.5 inch display, 2GB RAM gets certified at TENAA

Oppo A53, a new unannounced smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker has been certified at TENAA. Two other smartphones, OPPO A53m and OPPO A33m got the 3C certification in China recently. Out of these, Oppo A33m is already certified by TENAA and while the OPPO A53m looks like the variant of the Oppo A53.

WhatsApp has added new Starred messages feature in the latest beta version of the Android app. This lets you star a message, which is similar to bookmarking, so that you can find it easily later. Shipments of LTE smartphones in India grew by 2400% anually in Q3 2015: Report

The year 2015 saw a 20% increase in the number of smartphone shipments in India and a subsequent increase of 12% during Q3 2015. However, the more interesting statistic is that the shipment of LTE smartphones in India alone grew by 2400% annually.
