Xiaomi officially announced the latest version of its popular android skin MIUI along with Mi 5X back in July, Redmi Note 4 was amongst the first devices to receive MIUI 9 based Global beta ROM update on 11 Aug, and Xiaomi rolled out Global Beta ROM to all devices by Sep end in three batches. It was introduced as Enjoy 7 Plus in China back in April and for the global markets as Y7 Prime in June. It packs a 5.5-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 435 Mobile Platform, runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat) with EMUI 5.1 top, has a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Google Assistant now supports Italian and Spanish, update rolling in the coming weeks

Google has announced that assistant support for Italian and Spanish will be rolled out in the coming weeks just as it had promised at the I/O 2017 event. Google said that Spanish both in Latin America and Spain would be available.

Facebook posts strong Q3 2017 results, has 2.07 billion MAUs

Facebook reported strong third-quarter for 2017 and topped the expectations of Wall Street. The company estimates around 1.37 billion daily active users on average for September 2017 which is an increase of 16% year-over-year.

Aviation Ministry releases draft regulations for use of drones in India

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has finally released draft regulations on civil use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Drones) in India. This will also enable commercial use of drones for tasks like photography, doorstep delivery, medical uses and even passenger transport, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said on Wednesday.

Smart Assistant now rolling out to MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM users

Xiaomi announced the latest iteration of its android skin on 25th July in an event in China with new features like Smart Assistant, Split Screen and Universal Image Search. MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM started rolling out to Global ROM users on 11th July but many of these features were exclusive to MIUI China ROM till now. Razer today announced the most expected Razer Phone at an event in London, months after it acquired Nexbit. The phone packs a 5.72-inch Quad HD  120 Hz UltraMotion display delivering fastest refresh rates and smooth graphics suitable for gaming. UltraMotion’s adaptive refresh technology synchronizes the GPU and display to remove image tearing or lag while driving efficient power usage, says Razer.

Motorola sends invites for Moto X4 India launch on November 13

Moto India has sent out invites for the the launch of Moto X4 smartphone in the Moto X series in India on November 13th. The phone was supposed to launch on October 3rd, but it was postponed later. It was unveiled IFA event recently and packs dual 12MP and 8MP rear cameras to take images with blurred background, portraits, selective black and white and has dual Autofocus Pixel technology for faster focus in low light. Amazon Kindle Lite Beta for Android released

A week after updating the Kindle app, Amazon has released Kindle Lite app for Android in Beta for low-end Android smartphones. Amazon says that the app has been crafted specially for Indian readers. The app is less than 2MB in size so takes significantly less space on the smartphone, works smoothly even on 2G networks and lets you monitor your data usage and manage storage.

iPhone X will be available from Airtel Online Store starting November 3

Airtel today announced that the iPhone X will go on sale on Airtel’s Online Store starting 6.00 pm, November 3, 2017. It will be available exclusively to Airtel postpaid customers as an unlocked device on a first come first serve and full payment basis, till stocks last, said Airtel. It will also deliver the phone in 21 cities across India free of charge to customers’ doorstep. The company did not introduce any special plans for the iPhone X.

Sony mobile sales down in Q2 FY17, 3.4 million smartphones shipped

Sony Corporation has reported its revenues for the second quarter of the financial year 2017 that ended September 30, 2017. Sales increased by 22.1% to 2,062.5 billion yen compared to the same quarter last year due to the impact of foreign exchange rates and an increase in Game & Network Services (G&NS) segment sales.
