At the Gamescom 2018, Microsoft announced that popular ‘PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)’ game is now out of preview program and the full product release; 1.0 will be released on September 4th. Tencent had launched the PUBG Mobile game for Android and iOS back in March and it has surpassed 100 million downloads in about 5 months since its debut on smartphones and tablets. However, PUBG’s counterpart, the Fortnite had surpassed the milestone on iOS alone in late July, according to data-tracking service Apptopia. PUBG is consistently releasing a fresh new update since it launched back in March. In May it rolled out the much talked 0.5.0 update and in June it released the 0.6.0 which is currently the stable release. Back in May, PUBG developer sued Epic Games’ Fortnite over copyright infringement in Korea. This marks the end of a legal battle between two of the world’s hottest games. PUBG has sent a letter of withdrawal to Epic Games Inc.’s attorneys on Monday, and the case has since been closed, according to the website of the local court system. Korean game developer PUBG Corporation, which is also a subsidiary of Bluehole has announced that it is suing US-based Epic Games’ ‘Fortnite’ over copyright infringement in Korea. It also asked the court to determine whether Fortnite copied from the former’s “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.” It filed an injunction with the Seoul Central District Court against Epic Games Korea.
