Verizon has launched ‘Verizon 5G Home’, the world’s first commercial 5G broadband internet service. Users in the USA can sign up to be a “First On 5G” Member. Verizon 5G Home will initially be available in parts of Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, and Sacramento. It is built on Verizon’s Ultra-Wideband 5G network. OPPO has introduced A7x, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone in China. It is a variant of the OPPO F9, a cheaper version of the F9 Pro that was launched in India last month. It has a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with Waterdrop Screen with screen-to-body ratio up to 90.8% for a more immersive experience, is powered by Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P60 12nm processor, has 16MP rear camera with LED flash, and secondary 2MP camera, features a 16-megapixel front camera, packs 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage.
Blaupunkt, the Germany-based consumer lifestyle and technology brand has entered into Indian TV market with eight LED TVs in Family, Smart Sound and 4K UHD series. Both the Smart Sound and 4K UHD series are Android-powered smart TVs and some models also come with external sound bars. These were unveiled at the IFA Berlin 2018 in August. The company has tied up with Flipkart to sell the TVs exclusively.
The Department of Telecommunications today has approved the state-owned BSNL plan to seek airwaves in the 2100 Mhz band to launch 4G services pan-India. BSNL in 2017 has submitted a detailed project report and in a bid to acquire spectrum worth about Rs 13,885 crore, and sought Rs 6,652 crore as equity infusion from the government. Instagram has confirmed that it is testing a new feature that would allow users to tag their friends in video posts, not just limiting the tagging feature to photos. The feature would work similarly to photo tagging, but instead of pressing the small icon at the bottom left, it might be more difficult with videos.
