Apple has released their first major update to macOS Catalina, jumping to version 10.15.1, alongside their iOS 13.2 and WatchOS 6.1 update. Along with bug fixes and improvements, the update also adds 70 new emojis, support for AirPods Pro, HomeKit Secure Video, HomeKit enabled routers, and new Siri privacy settings. LG Electronics has reported revenues of 15.7 trillion won (US$ 13.15 billion) for the third quarter that ended September 30, 2019, which is up 1.8% compared to the same quarter last year. It posted profits of 781.4 billion won (US$ 654.4 million), up 19.79% YoY, while net profit was down 30.45% YoY to 345.7 billion won. Decrease in profits is primarily due to losses from mobile communications in the quarter, even home appliance, home entertainment and business solutions business units posted strong results. LG Electronics (LG) and Qualcomm Technologies Inc. have announced today their partnership to further develop LG’s connected in-vehicle infotainment system, webOS Auto. In its Q3 2019 earnings report released today, Alphabet has announced a revenue of $40.5 billion that is an increase of 20% in revenue compared to same period last year. With an operating income of $9.17 billion, that represents an operating margin of 22%. The company did well in meeting most of its expectations but fell short in some.

Xiaomi today opened crowd funding for its new Mi Smart Bedside Lamp 2 in India. It is a 12W lamp with 400 Lumens output, and you can control the lamp through the app, and choose from 16 million colors. It works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant as well as Apple HomeKit. Alphabet Inc, Google’s parent company has reportedly made an offer to acquire U.S. wearables device maker, Fitbit Inc. for an undisclosed amount. Google entered the hardware market with their smartphones, but has not made an entry into the smart wearables market, a market that’s dominated by Apple, Xiaomi, Samsung and others.

Update: Xiaomi has confirmed that in addition to the 108MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture, the phone will feature a 12MP 1/2.6-inch 2PD sensor with 1.4um for 2x zoom and portrait with 50mm focal length. This is the same sensor used in the Samsung Galaxy S9, says the company. There is also 20MP 117° ultra-wide angle camera and a super macro lens for 1.5cm macro shots. It already confirmed 5x optical zoom, now it has confirmed 10x hybrid zoom and 50x digital zoom with a telephoto lens.
