It’s actually sad to hear that Opera co-founder and current Advisor Jon von Tetzchner is leaving the company . I had the pleasure meeting Jon in 2009 and he’s a pretty knowledgeable guy and a pioneer in the internet space .He was in India recently for a Opera Meetup. He seems pretty tight lipped about this future plans, but we wish him luck !. Opera Software is the company behind Opera Mini and Mobile.
Looks like Apple is just heating up the mobile phone war in India. After launching the iPhone 4 in India recently , it has now launched the 8GB version of the iPhone 3GS in the country. BGR is reporting that the 3GS has been launched for Rs.19990. Apple has always been blamed for making the iPhone a costly affair in India and look like all that is going to change. The price of the 8GB 3GS iPhone might send a shiver down the spine of Nokia and Samsung who pretty much dominate the category.
BlackBerry maker Research in Motion today launched the much awaited BlackBerry Tablet – PlayBook at an event in Mumbai today. The 7-inch PlayBook is powered by a 1GHz Dual Core processor and packs 1 GB of RAM. It runs on QNX which makes the BlackBerry PlayBook really snappy. The Multitasking on the PlayBook is the best we have even seen on a Tablet. The Browser and Multimedia capabilities are pretty awesome too. Apple is currently being investigated by the Competition Commission of India after a customer complained to the organization under Section 4 of the Competition Act 2002. At the Nokia Connection 2011 event in Singapore today , Marko Ahtisaari, Senior Vice President , Design , Nokia introduced the Nokia N9 the first MeeGo phone from the company. The design looks incredibly awesome and we can barely wait to get our hands on it. The UI works in a swipe based mechanism and uses no physical keys.

While we are still summing up details about the Nokia N9, one thing we wanted to share ASAP. The N9 uses a microSIM card slot similar to the iPad 3G and iPhone 4. Here is what we found on the official specs page of the N9. It mentions Micro SIM card. No wonder the device is so thin at 12.1mm at the maximum and 7.6 mm at the edges.
At the Nokia Connections 2011 event in Singapore, the company showed of it’s new strategy. Symbian Anna was demoed and is expected to hit devices in July-August.
