LG just announced its flagship V30 smartphone at IFA 2017 in Berlin, as it had promised. It has a 6-inch (1440 × 2880 pixels) QHD+ OLED FullVision display with 18:9 aspect ratio and narrow bezels, is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform and has a 16-megapixel primary rear camera with f/1.6 aperture, Crystal Clear lens, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Hybrid Auto Focus that combines both Laser Detection Auto Focus and Phase Detection Auto Focus along with a 13-megapixel secondary camera with 120-degree wide-angle lens.
Samsung has announced Gear Sport, its latest smartwatch at the IFA 2017. It has a 1.2-inch Circular Super AMOLED Always On display and comes with GPS, Heart rate sensor and NFC for Samsung Pay. Samsung at the IFA 2017 announced Gear Fit2 Pro, successor of last year’s Gear Fit 2 with a new watch-style clasp. It has a 1.5-inch Curved Super AMOLED screen, has built-in GPS and runs Tizen OS, similar to the predecessor. It is 5 ATM certified for water resistance in up to 50-meters of water and has Speedo’s swimming training app Speedo On that lets you track key swim metrics including lap count, lap time, stroke type and more. Acer at the IFA 2017 introduced two new 360-degree cameras powered by Snapdragon 625 and have 4G LTE support. The Acer Holo360 has a 3-inch touchscreen and lets you livestream 360-degree video, thanks to dual 16-megapixel lenses with Sony IMX298 sensor. It runs on Android 7.1 and lets you share 360-degree photos and videos directly to social networks and also preview them on the device.
Lenovo India recently started teasing the K8 Plus smartphone, few weeks after the launch of the K8 Note smartphone in the country. Today Flipkart that partnered with Lenovo for K5 Plus, K5 Note and K6 Power has announced that K8 Plus will launch exclusively on Flipkart on September 6th. After several teasers, Xiaomi just announced that it will unveil Mi MIX 2, its second-generation flagship bezel-less smartphone at an event in China on September 11th. Xiaomi is calling it 2.0 bezel-less display, so it is expected to have minimal bezels. The company already confirmed that it will be designed by French designer Philippe Starck, who designed the Mi MIX. Google has introduced ARCore, a new software development kit for building augmented reality apps on Android. This brings augmented reality capabilities to millions of Android phones without any additional hardware like Google’s Tango that uses several additional sensors. It also takes on Apple’s ARKit for iOS 11 that was introduced back in June. This works by tracking the position of the mobile device as it moves, and building its own understanding of the real world. MediaTek has introduced Helio P23 and Helio P30, two new chips in the ‘P Series’. Both these are Octa-Core SoCs that combines powerful and efficient ARM Cortex A53 cores, replace and uses TSMC 16nm FinFET production process. These deliver performance and power efficiency, dual camera photography, dual SIM and dual 4G VoLTE capabilities for mid-range smartphones, says the company.
