OnePlus just launched the OnePlus Nord 2 5G, the company’s latest mid-range Nord smartphone and the successor to the first Nord that was launched last year. It has a 6.43-inch FHD+ Fluid AMOLED display, 90Hz refresh rate, and a 20:9 aspect ratio, AI colour boost, AI resolution boost smart ambient display and more features, has a 32-megapixel in-screen camera with Sony IMX615 sensor, but misses out on the ultra-wide front camera which the first Nord had. Indian smartphone shipments up 87% YoY in Q2 2021; realme overtakes OPPO: Canalys

Indian smartphone market saw 32.4 million unit shipments in Q2 2021, up 87% compared to Q2 2020 due to Q2 2020’s two-month shutdown, but it fell 13% between Q1 and Q2 2021 due to the second wave of COVID-19, which stifled demand. Lava has launched the Z2s, the company’s latest smartphone in the Z series in India, after the launch of Z2 Max back in May. The Z2s packs a 6.5-inch HD+ screen, is powered by MediaTek Helio octa-core SoC, has 2GB of RAM, runs Android 11 go edition, features a 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. Gionee STYLFIT GSW6 and STYLEFIT GSW8 with Bluetooth calling support launched starting at Rs. 2999

Gionee introduced STYLFIT GSW6, STYLFIT GSW7 and STYLFIT GSW8 range under the G buddy portfolio last month. STYLFIT GSW6 went on sale last month itself, and the company said that the STYLFIT GSW7 and STYLFIT GSW8 with dedicated Bluetooth for calling and music listening will be available soon. Redmi Buds 3 Pro with Bluetooth 5.2, up to 35db active noise cancellation, low latency gaming mode rolling out globally

Xiaomi under its Redmi brand introduced its Redmi AirDots 3 Pro in China back in May. Now it has started rolling out the earbuds globally as Redmi Buds 3 Pro. It has the Bluetooth 5.2, dual-device connectivity and can achieve a low latency of as low as 69ms. It also has active noise cancellation with up to 35dB active noise reduction, thanks to feed-forward and feed-back microphones it can effectively cancel ambient noise and reduce excess noise in the ear canal. OPPO Reno6 Z with 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, Dimensity 800U, 8GB RAM, 64MP triple rear cameras announced

OPPO has introduced Reno6 Z, the company’s latest smartphone in the Reno6 series in Thailand. It has a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a 32MP punch-hole camera and 90.8% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by Dimensity 800U with support for 5G SA/NSA, 8GB of RAM with up to 5GB virtual RAM and runs Android 11 with ColorOS 11.1. It has a 64-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide and a 2-megapixel depth and macro cameras. There are AI portrait and Bokeh Flare Portrait video features. POCO X2 MIUI Software Update Tracker [Update: MIUI 12.5 stable update starts rolling out]

POCO launched the POCO X2 smartphone in India last month, running MIUI 11.0 Global Stable on top of Android 10. POCO X2 is the rebranded version of Redmi K30 4G which was launched in China back in December. The smartphone has already started receiving Android 10 based MIUI 12 update.

Airtel and Intel partner for 5G services in India

After partnering with Qualcomm, Airtel today announced a collaboration with Intel to use its vRAN / O-RAN technologies for 5G services in India. Airtel said that will deploy Intel’s latest 3rd gen Xeon Scalable processors, FPGAs and eASICs, and Ethernet 800 series across its network to build a solid foundation for rolling out wide-scale 5G, mobile edge computing and network slicing. The Master Explorer Edition has a 6.55-inch Full HD+ 120Hz Samsung Super 56° curved OLED AMOLED screen with 480Hz touch sampling rate, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 10240-level brightness adjustment, 1100 nits peak brightness, 32-megapixel camera inside the punch-hole and 92.1% screen-to-body ratio, thanks to 3.15mm ultra-narrow chin. OPPO Reno6 5G Unboxing and First Impressions

OPPO launched the Reno6 series 5G smartphones in India last week. The Reno6 5G is the cheaper model in the series that features a slightly smaller flat display compared to a curved screen in the Pro version.
