Samsung begins production of faster, smaller 64GB embedded flash memory for mobile devices

Samsung has announced that they have started producing new 64GB embedded flash memory for Smartphones and Tablets. The new Samsung Embedded Multimedia Card (eMMC) Pro Class 2000 delivers up to 260 MB/s (megabytes per second) sequential reading speeds and up to 50 MB/s sequential writing speeds. It offers random write speed of 2,000 IOPS (input/output per second) and a random read speed of 5,000 IOPS. These are up to 2 times faster than the eMMC Pro Class 1500 and up to 10 times faster than the normal class 10 memory cards. India 2G spectrum auction ends, Winners announced


The Department of Telecom (DoT) has announced the winners in the 2G auctions in various circles that ended after 14 rounds. Earlier this year, Supreme Court of India cancelled 122 2G licenses issued by the Government on after 10th Jan 2008. At the end of the 2G auction government got bids worth Rs. 9,407.64 crore, much lower than their target revenue of Rs. 40,000 crore. Nimbuzz for Windows Phone updated with push notifications

Nimbuzz for Windows Phone has been updated to version 1.1.1 that brings push notifications finally. The updated app also brings auto save option for incoming images, faster startup time that offers better user experience and more. Nimbuzz for Windows Phone was launched back in July and lets you chat with friends on Facebook, GTalk, Yahoo Messenger and MSN/Live Messenger. You can also share images and connect to Twitter using the app.

BlackBerry 10 launching worldwide on January 30th 2013

RIM has just announced that the BlackBerry 10 would be launched simultaneously in multiple countries at separate events around the world on 30th January 2013. RIM showed off first BlackBerry Dev Alpha device running BlackBerry OS 10 back in May, and they revealed the Dev Alpha B in September with lot of new features and improvements. BlackBerry 10 got FIPS 140-2 US government security certification last week. Skype for Windows Phone 8 (Preview) now available


Microsoft unveiled a new Skype app for Windows Phone 8 devices couple of weeks back, now the preview version of the app is available for the Windows Phone 8 devices. Skype for Windows Phone 8 has been completely built from the ground up for better integration with the Windows Phone 8 and has a completely new UI, better notifications and more. The first Skype for Windows Phone app was launched back in February, and it was launched in Windows Phone Marketplace in April. Draw Something and Words With Friends now available for Windows Phone devices, Free for Nokia Lumia phones

Draw Something and Words With Friends are finally available for Windows Phone devices. Nokia announced back in June that they entered into a partnership with Zynga to bring Words With Friends and Draw Something to Nokia Lumia Smartphones. These games are now available for free for the Lumia Smartphones from the Nokia collection and all the Windows Phone devices running Windows Phone 7.5 and later from the Windows Phone Store. Aakash 2 low-cost Tablet launched, UbiSlate 7Ci goes on sale

Aakash 2 ultra low-cost tablet, successor of Aaksash tablet was launched by the President of India , Pranab Mukherjee and the Human Resources & Development (HRD) Minister, MM Pallam Raju. It comes at a price tag of Rs. 1,130 for students, while the commercial version, UbiSlate 7Ci is available for purchase at Rs. 4,499. DataWind would supply 100,000 units of Aakash 2 to IIT Bombay and also aims to distribute them to Engineering colleges and universities. It comes with upgraded specifications including a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and runs on Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It powered by a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor and has 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, 32GB expandable memory and a front-facing camera. Byond Tech has launched 2 new Android Tablets, Mi-book Mi5 and Mi-book Mi9 in India. The Mi-Book Mi5 comes with a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive multi-touch display, while the Mi-Book Mi9 has a 9-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive multi-touch display. These tablets are powered by a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor and runs on Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The Mi-book Mi5 has SIM card slot with voice calling, Bluetooth and 3G support via Dongle. The company launched Mi-book Mi1 and Mi-book Mi3 tablets last month. Nokia 808 PureView, the phone with a 41MP camera sensor has got a price cut, which is now available for Rs. 24,999.  Nokia announced the Nokia 808 PureView at MWC 2012 and it launched in India in June at an MRP of Rs. 33,899. It has a 4-inch (640 x 360 pixels) AMOLED CBD display with Gorilla Glass protection, 1.3 GHz processor and runs on Nokia Belle OS. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Android 4.1 update starts rolling in Germany

Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) update for the Galaxy Note 10.1 starting from Germany. Samsung announced the GALAXY Note 10.1 at MWC 2012, but launched the tablet with upgraded specs in August. Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 10.1 in India as Galaxy Note 800 at the end of August. BlackBerry 10 gets FIPS 140-2 US government security certification ahead of launch

Research In Motion (RIM) has announced that the BlackBerry 10, their upcoming mobile phone platform has received FIPS 140-2 certification. This is the first time BlackBerry products have been FIPS certified ahead of launch. This certification would enable government agencies to deploy BlackBerry 10 smartphones and RIM’s new mobile enterprise management solution BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 from the day of launch.
