Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 get software update in US and Canada, global roll out from February 2013


Nokia has started rolling out a new PR 1.1 software update for the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 in the US and Canada. This update would bring several enhancements including improved Bluetooth connectivity, faster start-up and better imaging and battery management. Samsung to fix Exynos 4 exploit with software update soon

A XDA member recently found an exploit in the Samsung devices powered by Exynos 4210 or a 4412 processors that would offer read/write access to the physical memory through malicious applications. Android Central now reports that they have received a official word from Samsung who have announced that they have acknowledged this issue and are working on a software fix that would roll out for these devices soon. Tata Teleservices and ICICI Bank partner to launch Money Transfer Services

ICICI Bank and MMP Mobi Wallet Payment Systems, a 100% subsidiary of Tata Teleservices has announced a partnership to launch a money transfer service. Twitter for BlackBerry v4.0 update brings better navigation with new tabs

Twitter for BlackBerry has been updated to version 4.0 that brings new streamlined design and new tabs for better interaction. Connect tab shows you who retweeted, favorited and followed you, and also shows mentions. The Discover tab shows Trends, Who to follow suggestions and makes it easy to browse categories. The Me tab shows Messages, lists and favorited Tweets. These new tabs were available for Twitter for Android and iPhone last December. Foursquare for iPhone has been updated to version 5.4 that brings new features including ratings, address, hours, menu, and phone number for new places, swipeable photos at the top of the venues, popular tips at the places you have visited and more. These features were available in Foursquare for Android last week. In addition, the Foursquare for iPhone users would get useful highlights on every check-in that would enhance the experience. Huawei to unveil Ascend D2 with 5-inch 1080p display and Ascend W1 at CES 2013

Richard Yu, Senior Vice President of Huwaei has confirmed that the company would unveil the Ascend D2 Android Smartphone with a 5-inch 1080p (1920 × 1080 pixels) display and Ascend W1 Windows Phone 8 device at CES 2013. The Ascend D2 would be the successor of the Ascend D1 that was announced at MWC 2012. The Ascend W1 would be the company’s first Windows Phone 8 device. Samsung has announced Galaxy Grand, a new Android phone in the Galaxy series. It has a 5-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash, BSI sensor for better low-light imaging, zero shutter-lag and ultra-quick camera start-up. It also has a 2MP HD front-facing camera. It would come in dual SIM (GT-I9082) and single SIM (GT-I9080) variants. It also Samsung’s unique features such as Multi Window (Multiscreen), S Voice, Smart Stay, Direct Call, Smart Alert and AllShare Play. Zen Mobile has launched UltraTab A700 3G, their new tablet in the UltraTab range. It has a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive multi-touch display and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) similar to the UltraTab A100. Times of India launches Alive Augmented Reality News app for Android, iPhone and BlackBerry

Times of India has launched a new app called Alive that would let you view videos, photos, and polls related to a news just by pointing the app at a newspaper item with Alive logo. This app is available for Android, iPhone, BlackBerry and Nokia Symbian Smartphones and would offer a captivating experience for the users than just reading a newspaper. The app has crossed 250,000 downloads on the launch day, leading to 300,000 augmentation views on a single day. Karbonn Smart Tab 10 with 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.1 now available for Rs. 10280

 

Karbonn Smart Tab 10, a new Android tablet in the Smart Tab range is now available online from Saholic. The Karbonn Smart Tab 10 (Cosmic) comes with a 1.5 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 9.7-inch (1024 x 768 pixels) display, 2MP rear  camera and a VGA front-facing camera. The company started selling Smart Tab 1 tablet with Jelly Bean back in August. The Karbonn Smart Tab 9 and Smart Tab 3, 9-inch and 7.1-inch tablets were officially released back in October.
