Rumors have been floating around that HTC plans to acquire Nokia’s Chennai based plant to increase operations in India. The plant is considered the largest in the world and employs over 8000 people. In a statement to FoneArena, the company has categorically denied any such intentions and says that Mr. Chang’s words were taken out of context. Full statement is included below. Nokia to complete it’s sale to Microsoft on 25th April

The long drawn affair of Nokia’s sale to Microsoft will finally come to a close on 25th April. Having received the go ahead from all regulatory bodies, the company today announced that the transaction will finally be completed on 25th April when Nokia Oy will be rebranded as Microsoft Mobile Oyj. The acquisition is meant to help Microsoft have a stronger foothold in the mobile space and to help push adoption of Windows Phone running devices. Google Q1 2014 earnings reported at $15.42 billion, grow 19% YoY

Earlier today, Google revealed its results for Q1 2014 and posted revenues of $15.42 billion. Earnings per share were reported at $6.27 and this was below the estimated $6.42 per share. The company missed analyst estimates of $15.52 billion in revenue and it can be attributed to Mountain View’s recent stock split amongst other things. Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Benchmarks

The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 stands out as perhaps the biggest Android tablet that you can get at the moment. The tablet is not only physically large, it also packs in it some serious firepower in the form of specifications. Under the hood is a 1.9Ghz Exynos 5 Octa processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The Exynos 5 Octa or the Exynos 5420 SoC has the big.LITTLE architecture where it pairs two clusters of four cores each. By switching between two clusters of Cortex A7 or Cortex A15 cores depending on the task load, the OS can optimize for battery life and performance.Samsung Note Pro 12.2 -13

Unlike the Exynos 5422 variant of the chipset that is found in the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 does not have HMP (Heterogeneous Multi Processing) enabled which means that the OS cannot schedule task threads on all 8 cores simultaneously. Amazon smartphone to launch in June says Wall Street Journal

Rumors around the long awaited Amazon smartphone have been floating around for years now but The Wall Street Journal has now gone on record to say that it should be expected this June. Amazon is believed to be showing off prototypes to developers in SFO and Seattle to gain support for its rather unique hardware. While showing 3D content on a phone has been done before, Amazon will be the first to include retina tracking technology that will largely be handled using the four front facing cameras that it will include.
