Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Benchmarks

The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 stands out as perhaps the biggest Android tablet that you can get at the moment. The tablet is not only physically large, it also packs in it some serious firepower in the form of specifications. Under the hood is a 1.9Ghz Exynos 5 Octa processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The Exynos 5 Octa or the Exynos 5420 SoC has the big.LITTLE architecture where it pairs two clusters of four cores each. By switching between two clusters of Cortex A7 or Cortex A15 cores depending on the task load, the OS can optimize for battery life and performance.Samsung Note Pro 12.2 -13

Unlike the Exynos 5422 variant of the chipset that is found in the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 does not have HMP (Heterogeneous Multi Processing) enabled which means that the OS cannot schedule task threads on all 8 cores simultaneously. While we’ll talk in detail about real life performance in our full review, here’s a couple of benchmarks to give you a comparative idea of how the Note Pro 12.2 fares against other popular Android tablets across categories.

Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 AnTuTu 4

In the AnTuTu benchmark, the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 scores 33762 points which places it right at the top of the competition.

Basemark X 1.0 HD (Offscreen)

Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 Basemark X 1.0 OffScreen

In the GPU centric Basemark X benchmark, the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 scored 10.809 points which is surprisingly lower than the Tegra 4 powered Xolo Play Tegra Note.

Basemark X 1.0 HD (Onscreen)

Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 Basemark X 1.0 OnScreen

In the Basemark X Onscreen benchmark, the tablet once again lost out and scored below even the Nexus 7 that packs comparatively dated hardware.

GFXBench 2.5 Egypt HD (Onscreen)

Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 GFXBench 2.5 Egypt OnScreen

GFXBench is another GPU centric benchmark where the Note Pro 12.2 loses out and that too by a fair margin. The tablet scores just 40FPS while Snapdragon 800 based devices manage 69FPS.

Linpack Multi Thread

Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 Linpack Multi-Thread

In the multi threaded Linpack benchmark, the Note Pro 12.2 manages to score 290.805 which is once again well behind the competition.

Linpack (Single Thread)

Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 Linpack Single Thread

In the single threaded Linpack benchmark, the Galaxy Note Pro scores 252.51.

Vellamo 2.0 HTML5

Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 Vellamo 2 HTML5

In the Vellamo 2.0 HTML5 benchmark, the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 scored 138.2 points which placed it right at the bottom of the ladder. Over all it is worth noting that real life performance and benchmark scores often do not align. Additionally, not all benchmarks have been optimized to deliver accurate results for the big.LITTLE configuration on the Exynos 5420. We’ll touch upon actual performance of the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 in our review shortly.
