QiKU Q Terra Gaming and Heat Test

QiKU Q Terra Gaming _fonearena

The QiKU Q Terra has left quite an impression on us with its solid performance, great pricing and over all package. In our review, we’d pointed at all these and more and had said that performance on the handset was quite exemplary. However, one category in particular is of a lot of interest to users investing in a high performance, large-screen device. Gaming on a Snapdragon 808 chipset is bound to be good given the high-end nature of the chipset but there is the perennial fear of overheating so we decided to put the phone through a test that would gauge how well it works in both the parameters. Read on for more information. QiKU Q Terra Camera Review: A new take on Smartphone Imaging

QiKu Q-Terra -6Work long enough in the industry and you learn to take every new technical jargon with a heaping spoon full of salt. So when QiKu, the scrappy new upstart, briefed us about its new duoscopic camera, we were quick to believe this similar to other manufacturer’s offering and perhaps even a gimmick. Spending some more time with the device though, we noticed that this was quite not the case. While we explored the camera briefly in our review, we really wanted to stress the dual camera feature on the phone to see if it actually delivers on its promise. So what did we do? We put the camera through a test, a 3000km+ journey across India to test and see if the QiKu Q Terra’s camera can perform uniformly well across large and varied landscapes, lighting conditions. QiKU Q Terra Review: A New Challenger Appears

QiKU Q Terra -2

Apples, Blackberries and now Qiku (pronounced cheeku); fruits or thereabouts seem to be the preferred nomenclature amongst the tech world. All jokes apart, when we first got acquainted with new entrant, Qiku, we were a bit apprehensive about the choice of name and its repercussions in India. Not to be laughed off though, the company has gone ahead full steam and has incorporated a lot of feedback. Using a combination of sheer power and some very interesting software features, the QiKu Q Terra has managed to garner a lot of positive feedback. But is this warranted? More so for a company that’s a scrappy new upstart not just in India but in its home base of China as well. That’s what we set off to find out in our review. Gionee Elife E8 Review

Gionee Elife E8 -8

It’s been a long while in the making. The Gionee Elife E7, the erstwhile flagship of the company was launched way back in 2013. Its now almost two years since the day and we are finally getting our hands on the Gionee Elife E8. Sure, it was announced back in June but that has perhaps made the wait harder still. There are improvements all around and it is clear that Gionee has learnt a lot from their first effort however the competition too has improved. The smartphone ecosystem is no longer the same and it remains to be seen if the Gionee Elife E8 and it’s accompanying Amigo OS are competitive enough. We’ll find that out in our review. Continue reading “Gionee Elife E8 Review”

Micromax Canvas 5 E481 Review

Micromax Canvas 5 -12

Once again, Micromax is back with a flagship handset part of it’s Canvas series of phones. A beautifully curved front glass and leather touch back greet you as you pick up the phone. First appearances indeed make this appear as a far higher end handset than we’re used to from the company. Appearances however can be quite deceptive so read on as we take a deeper look at what makes the Micromax Canvas 5 tick in our full review. Continue reading “Micromax Canvas 5 E481 Review”

Meizu m2 Review

Meizu m2 -2

Ever since Meizu started operations in India, they’ve fast become a player to watch out for. While a significant market share still eludes the brand, they certainly have managed to carve out a niche for themselves by offering fantastic quality and overall experience. Indeed, the small but vocal fan following echoes exactly what we found out in our reviews. Meizu makes good phones that balance specifications versus price surprisingly well. With the launch of the Meizu m2, we really wanted to see if the company could continue it’s streak. Here’s the FoneArena review of the Meizu m2 and let’s take a look at how it fares. Continue reading “Meizu m2 Review”

Amkette Evo Gamepad Pro Review

Amkette Evo Gamepad Pro -1

Mobile gaming as a category has already surpassed portable consoles by far. We’ve reached a point where the smartphone gaming market is competing head-on with dedicated consoles. So far, the biggest inhibiting factor has been experience or the lack thereof. The touchscreen gaming experience pales in front of dedicated consoles and their full blown controllers. Video game controllers have been available for ages to fix this but are usually expensive, clunky or a combination of the two. Amkette is trying to change this with the Amkette Evo Gamepad Pro.
