Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has announced that it has successfully demonstrated 5G Voice over New Radio (VoNR) with its technology partner, Nokia, during the ongoing 5G Trials in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Once deployed, the VoNR solution will enable Vi to offer its subscribers high-definition voice experience over 5G, as well as several advanced voice applications and use cases in the future, said the company. After several delays, Indian government at the budget 2022-23 announced that 5G spectrum auctions will be conducted in 2022 and the 5G services will be rolled out by by private telecom providers within 2022- 23. Reliance Jio already announced that it is ready for deployment after the spectrum auction. Airtel and Vodafone Idea have also been conducting trials. Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL), in partnership with Nokia, announced that it has successfully conducted 5G trial in rural area in Gandhinagar in Gujarat using 3.5GHz spectrum band allocated by the Government for 5G trials. Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) has been conducting 5G trials on Govt. allocated 5G spectrum in the cities of Pune (Maharashtra) and Gandhinagar
(Gujarat). Vi said that in its trial, it achieved peak 5G speed of 3.7 Gbps with very low latency on the mmWave spectrum band.
