Vi says it has achieved peak 5G speed of 3.7 Gbps on mmWave band in trials

Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) has been conducting 5G trials on Govt. allocated 5G spectrum in the cities of Pune (Maharashtra) and Gandhinagar
(Gujarat). Vi said that in its trial, it achieved peak 5G speed of 3.7 Gbps with very low latency on the mmWave spectrum band. This is conducted in a lab setup of end to-end captive network of Cloud Core, new generation Transport and Radio Access Network in Pune. Airtel demonstrates Cloud Gaming on its 5G network

Airtel today announced that it has successfully conducted India’s first cloud gaming session in a 5G environment. It was conducted in Manesar (Guragon) as part of the ongoing 5G trails using spectrum allotted  by the Department of Telecom (DoT). At its Samsung Networks: Redefined virtual event, Samsung introduced new chipsets that will be used in its next generation 5G solutions. The new 3GPP Rel.16 compliant chipsets consist of a third generation mmWave Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) chip, a second generation 5G modem System-on-Chip (SoC) and a Digital Front End (DFE)-RFIC integrated chip. Airtel begins mid-band 5G trials in Gurgaon’s Cyber Hub

After receiving approval from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to begin 5G trials in India last month, Airtel has begun rolling out their mid-band 5G trial network in Gurgaon’s Cyber Hub. The test is being conducted on the 3500 MHz band and is utilizing 5G networking gear from Ericsson.

China expresses concern, regret over India not allowing Chinese companies participate in 5G trials

This week the Department of Telecom (DoT) approved Airtel, Jio, Vi, and MTNL, to conduct 5G trials in the country. It also approved original equipment manufacturers and technology providers — Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and Development of Telematics (C-DoT) to supply equipments for 5G trials, but it didn’t allow Chinese vendors HUAWEI and ZTE. realme commits $300 million into R&D for 5G technology and products

realme, one of India’s major smartphone manufacturers, has announced their commitment to adopting 5G technology across their portfolio of products. In an open letter, the company’s CEO, Sky Li, revealed that over the next two year, 70% of the products offered by realme will adopt 5G technology and realme will also be dedicating a significant amount of R&D resources to help speed up the adoption.

Airtel says its network is 5G ready; successfully demonstrates live 5G services in Hyderabad

Airtel today announced that it has become the country’s first telcom performance to successfully demonstrate and orchestrate live 5G service over a commercial network in Hyderabad city. Airtel said that this has been carried out over its existing liberalised spectrum in the 1800MHz band through the NSA (Non Stand Alone) network technology using Ericsson 4G (DSS) radio infrastructure on OPPO Reno5 Pro and OPPO Find X2 Pro smartphones.
