Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the WiFi variant (SM-P600) of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition starting from Columbia. Samsung confirmed Android 4.4 update for 14 Galaxy devices in the U.S, including the Note 10.1 2014 Edition, earlier this year. It was launched last year running Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). Sadly the Indian 3G variant (SM-P601) is yet to receive the KitKat update. Amazon and Samsung team up for custom Kindle for Samsung app, offers free eBooks for Galaxy devices

Samsung and Amazon have entered into a partnership to launch Kindle for Samsung, a custom eBook service for Samsung Galaxy devices to offer books, newspapers and magazines, including over 500,000 exclusive titles. Apple reportedly teams up with Shazam to integrate song identification into iOS

Apple has partnered Shazam to work on a song identification tool for iOS 8, according to reports from Bloomberg. The feature will allow users to identify a song using their iPhone or iPad’s microphone. The report states that users will be able to access the song identification feature via Apple’s digital voice assistant, Siri. Hence, Siri will answer once a user asks “What song is playing” as it will generate the data from Shazam which has more than 90 million users.

Google Camera app now available for download on the Play Store

Google has released their stock camera app in the Play Store for all the Android devices running on Android 4.4 (KitKat) and later. This has a new interface and adds a lens blur feature like DSLR. Lens Blur lets you change the point or level of focus after the photo is taken. Samsung ChatON messenger now lets you translate between Hindi and English

Samsung updated their ChatON messenger app to version 3.5 for Android earlier this month that brought new features. At an event Samsung India has revealed that the ChatON 3.5 would also offer instant message translation between English and Hindi. It also supports 14 Indian languages and has Indianized Anicons or animated icons. It also detailed more feature aimed at Indian users. Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview Update is now live

As promised, Microsoft has initiated the Developer Preview program today, for its latest and greatest mobile operating system, Windows Phone 8.1. Touting a new virtual assistant, tile backgrounds and a lot more, the update is now available for download as a part of the enthusiast program that officially started with the GDR3 update for Windows Phone 8. Microsoft had its grand reveal of the newest operating system at the Build developers conference, with them showing off all the new features in a lengthy keynote. The highlight was, of course, Cortana, the new virtual assistant that provides a combination of functionality from Apple’s Siri and Google’s own Voice and contextual assistant.

PayPal has announced that the fingerprint-based authentication system for the Galaxy S5 is available in 25 countries. This lets users just login to PayPal on mobile web sites, mobile apps and in stores with their fingerprint. Zomato has undergone a major revamp that makes the popular restaurant discovery guide more social. The food directory has added a new social layer which gives users personalised recommendations. For starters, the app has now added mandatory login either with Facebook or Google account. Prior to this users could skip the login process entirely unlike now. This also means that unregistered users can no longer make use of the database to view menus or reviews when searching for a new restaurant.
