Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic get FCC Certification

Samsung Gear S2 that is set to be announced at IFA next week has already been spotted in video and photos over past few weeks. Now, two new models of the smartwatch – SM-R720 and SM-R732 that are said to be the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic respectively have passed the FCC.

Apple grabs No. 2 spot in global wearables market, Fitbit maintains lead: Report

Apple has become the second largest wearable maker in the world, according to a latest report from IDC. The company sold 3.6 million Apple Watches in the second quarter of 2015 just 0.8 million units behind Fitbit which maintained the top spot with 4.4 million units.

Samsung did not announce the company’s next Gear smartwatch at the Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event today as rumored earlier, but it teased the Gear S2 smartwatch at the event. Samsung’s teaser shows that smartwatch will have a round display as expected. It also shows a metal casing, which could just be a placeholder. We already know that it will run on Tizen-based wearable OS, similar to the Gear S that was introduced last year.

Microsoft has released Translator app for Android, Android Wear, iOS devices and Apple Watch. The app is mainly for smartwatches since the Android and iOS apps have a simple layout. It lets you translate instantly in 50 languages using voice or text. You can translate even faster by pinning your most commonly used translations and settings to your watch screen for easy access, and browse your history of recently used phrases, said the company. It has option to select English accents spoken in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, United Kingdom and United States. Samsung Gear A smartwatch with Samsung Pay support tipped to be unveiled on August 13

Samsung has already sent out invites for an Unpacked event on August 13th where it will announce the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. Now, the Wall Street Journal says that the company may also unveil the Gear A smartwatch along the two phones at the same event.
