OPPO today launched A71, the company’s latest smartphone in ‘A series’ in India. It has a 5.2-inch HD display, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6750 processor, runs on Android 7.1 (Nougat) OS with ColorOS 3.1 on top, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1/3.06-inch sensor and f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, but it doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor. Last month Samsung started rolling out its Bixby Voice assistant globally. Today at the launch of its flagship Galaxy Note8 smartphone in India, Dipesh Shah, MD, Samsung R&D Institute said that Bixby Voice will be available in India in the next few weeks for the Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones. Samsung just launched the flagship Galaxy Note8 smartphone in India, as it had promised. It packs a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Infinity Display and comes with 12-megapixel primary camera with f/1.7 aperture and wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture and telephoto lens offering 2x optical zoom and OIS for both. It has Iris scanner, fingerprint sensor as well as heart rate monitor, similar to the predecessor and is also water resistant up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes with IP68 ratings. BlackBerry introduced Priv as the company’s first Android smartphone with a slide-out Keyboard back in October 2015 running Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) and it was launched in India in January last year at a hefty price tag. The phone got Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) update in April last year, now Alex Thurber GM of BlackBerry Mobility Solutions has confirmed that the phone will not get Android Nougat update. Xiaomi today unveiled the Mi MIX 2 smartphone at an event in China. Manu Jain, Group Vice President and Managing Director of Xiaomi India just tweeted that the company will be launching it in India soon, even though the company did not bring its first Mi Mix to India. Airtel has launched Voice over LTE (VoLTE) services in India starting from Mumbai, as expected, making it the second operator in the country to offer VoLTE after Reliance Jio. This lets Airtel customers enjoy HD quality voice calls along with faster call set up time compared to normal voice calls on their VoLTE-compatible 4G handsets. Airtel already offers 4G Advanced Carrier Aggregation technology in Mumbai that offers data speeds of up to 135 Mbps by combining spectrum capacities in 2300MHz (TD LTE) and 1800 MHz (FD LTE). Airtel back in July confirmed that the company is trialing 4G VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) services across five circles in the country and will officially launch VoLTE across it circles later this year. Asus has sent out invites for the launch of new Zenfone series in India, which will likely be the Zenfone 4 series that includes Zenfone 4, Zenfone 4 Pro, Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro, Zenfone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Max and Zenfone 4 Max Pro. It is not clear if all the phones will be launched in the country, but the company is teasing new selfie-focused smartphone with Ditch The Selfie Stick hashtag so it could launch the Zenfone 4 Selfie series in the country.
