realme today confirmed that it will introduce realme C12 and C15 smartphones with 6000mAh battery in India on August 18th. The realme C12 is an enhanced version of the C11 that was launched in India last month and the realme C15 was introduced in Indonesia a few weeks back. Both the phones have rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and the image confirmed triple rear cameras for the C12 compared to dual cameras in the C11. Samsung introduced its flagship Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra smartphones last week, and it started taking pre-orders for the phones from August 6th in India across online and offline platforms and also announced several offers. Today the company has announced that pre-booking notifications for the series have hit 5 lakh in India, which is twice that of the last year’s Galaxy Note10 series. Xiaomi launched Redmi Note 9 in the country last month. To recall, the device features a 6.53-inch Full HD+ LCD, is powered MediaTek Helio G85 12nm SoC with up to 6GB of RAM, and runs Android 10 based MIUI 11. Xiaomi has already unveiled the latest iteration of its proprietary Android skin MIUI, dubbed MIUI 12 Global back in May, though the company is yet to formally announce MIUI 12 for India.

Samsung has announced the launch of a new private mode feature for Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71 users, called AltZLife, that will let users quickly switch between normal mode and private mode (via Secure Folder) on their smartphone. AltZLife is a solution created by Samsung’s “Make for India” initiative, and it contains two features — Quick Switch and Content Suggestions.

In Q2 2020, the Indian smartphone market shipped 18.2 million units, recording a decline of 50.6% YoY, according to a report by IDC. The decline was primarily caused by the COVID-19 and the top 5 smartphone sellers for the quarter were Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo, realme and OPPO.
