ZUK, Lenovo-backed startup introduced ZUK Z1 smartphone in China last week. It recently said that the international variant of the smartphone will run on the latest Cyanogen OS 12.1 based on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) compared to the Chinese version that runs on ZUI based on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). Samsung on Wednesday launched its Galaxy S6 Edge+ in India with a hefty price tag of Rs. 57,900. ‘Made in India’ smartphones share increases to 24.8% in Q2, 2015: Report

India shipped a total of 56.6 million handsets during the April-June, 2015 quarter, out of which 43% were smartphones. The smartphone market grew 24.8% during the same period.

Indian smartphone shipment grows 44% in Q2, courtesy eTailers: IDC

International Data Corporation (IDC) on Tuesday published quarterly shipment data for the Asia Pacific region. As per their Quarterly Mobile Tracker for Q2 2015, India itself shipped 26.5 million smartphones this quarter, which is up by 44% from the 18.4 million units for the same period last year. ZUK Z1, the first smartphone from Lenovo-backed startup ZUK has been introduced in China. It packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display, is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with ZUI. It has aircraft-grade aluminum metal frame. The main highlight is the reversible USB 3.0 Type-C port that would offer up to 10 times faster data transfer compared to USB 2.0.
