Windows Mobile – In trouble?

Recent acquisition of Symbian has created quite a stir in the ever increasing market of Mobile Operating Systems. Symbian OS accounts for 60 percent of the converged mobile device segment, but has been loosing share lately. This has been largely to Windows Mobile and Linux.

Symbian has largely been controlled by Nokia. And it seems pretty odd, other phone manufacturer’s paying large sum of money going into the hands of a competitor. But this will all change with the Symbian foundation. How much? Only time will tell.

Google is about to unleash linux-based Android pretty soon on Motorola handsets. So this means putting additional pressure on Windows Mobile, which charges heavy on licensing fees. Continue reading “Windows Mobile – In trouble?”

During the past few years Symbian smartphones have become more popular among youth, when compared with the old days of Symbian devices.Actually the smartphones are made in order to cater a more productive output for power users who tend to rely on their phones to make things easy, keep work well organized and to make sure they are running according to the schedule .But by the time especially after Nokia adapted the multimedia computer concept, Symbian devices changed their path rapidly.

The old but still gold 6630 or the penguin phone as is known among most phone lovers, was the very first Nokia smartphone that hit the markets all around the world, especially among the youth it was a hot cake. That trend which boosted the smartphone fashion has now dominated the youth market as Nokia started including more and more multimedia support, large screens, massive storage capacities, dedicated music controllings, and most of all so many different form factors in design.Though the market is solely driven by looks and multimedia options there is one thing which is not very popular though it is the best in it.The Symbian OS which is core, and the door to all the above features. Mobile Web Server

Hi all,

Nokia Series 60 comes up with applications that simply amaze your imagination. It goes alike for applications that are released and those that are coming into existence quite soon.
The best place to find those which are coming is probably Nokia Beta Labs with an equally imaginative tag line – Shaping the future together.

Two great applications available for use are Mobile Web Server and Nokia Map Loader. While Mobile Web Server has been available for a while now, Map Loader has just been released.

I have been using Mobile Web Server for sometime, and can tell its a truly innovative application. A simple download, and an account does the trick. Oh yeah, you do need a GPRS/EDGE/3G/Wifi connection to make this work. Being totally dependent on the network, it might not be possible to make use of all the features but surely few of them can come very handy.

All the relevant information is available at Mobile Web Server site. An account is at the site and you are assigned your own address like http://yourname.mymobilesite.net

The download is available for Series 60 Nokia phones and is a Symbian download. I would recommend doing the download on the PC first and then transferring the application to the mobile through bluetooth or cable. Its around 3.8 MB on my Nokia E51. Continue reading “Mobile Web Server”
