T-Mobile G1 Unlocked works in India on Airtel

I recently got my hands on a T-Mobile G1 the first Google Android powered phone.
I brought it to India from USA. I unlocked the handset through T-Mobile and the phone now works perfectly fine on Airtel .
We are working on a in depth review of the phone which is the first phone based on the Google Android Operating System.
We have been telling you about gPhone since August 2007
As you can see the phone works perfectly fine on Airtel’s Network.
I was able to get most features working easily starting from calling , browsing , Messaging , Email etc.
Internet works totally fine with GPRS / EDGE (Mobile Office) and Wi-Fi

i got the same phone from london i unlocked it an now trying to use it for internet but its not orking would u plz help

APN Setting for Airtel MUMBAI (delete all other APNs):
Name: Airtel GPRS
APN: airtelgprs.com
Proxy: 202.56.231.117
Port: 8080
Server: *
MCC: 404
MNC: 92
APN type: default
PS:Leave everything else blank
APN Setting for Vodafone MUMBAI:
Name: Vodafone Live!
APN: portalnmms (PS: even “www” is working)
Proxy: 10.10.1.100
Port: 9401
MCC: 404
MNC: 20
APN: default

i’m unable to unlock my t mobile g1. i have a delhi vodafone connection and i’ll be on roaming for sometime now. pls advice.
if its asking for unlocking code then buy it from somebody online. Then try using ur vodafone card on it.

this should work… but make sure you have advanced GPRS activated on your mobile(costs min Rs. 199 rental…. zero rental plans wont allow you to log in)
hey i have got a G1 too can you tell me how I can use internet through airtel… the customer is so sick they have no clue how to help me… please help me with the directions to use internet through airtel.

I am using a G1 in USA. I already got the unlock code from T mobile and want to send this phone to someone in India. Can I unlock this phone over here in US to be used with Airtel or other networks in India or the phone has to be there physically before entering the unlock code?
just put any non T-mob card in ur G1 & start the phone it will prompt for unlock code… enter what u have(Warning: enter correct code… three time entered incorrect code might brick your phone).. if everything goes fine you will get sweet home screen… Now you can throw the unlock key in the trash can… you wont ever need that again…even after hard factory reset.

I’ve got a G1 from the U.S.. I got the phone unlocked, GPRS from vodafone. My problem is that i can only browse and make call. texting through the network but can’t access gmail and other IMs on the phone on vodafone network. These apps worked on Airtel network [Frnds SIM]. Can u please help. I’m in Hyderabad.
u have to subscribe to Mobile Connect service from vodafone which will cost u min 199 per month + usage charges… normal zero rental plan wont work… damn vodafone
