While Oppo is in the limelight for their upcoming Find 7 smartphone which is set to be announced later this month, they were also present at MWC 2014. While they did not have the Find 7 there, they did have the Oppo R1 (R829T). So here we bring to you a hands-on of the device.
Xolo launched the Q1100, the company’s first phone in the Q CORE series powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor last month. We brought you the unboxing of the device earlier this week. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The phone is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 (MSM8228) ARM Cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz with Adreno 305 GPU. Both the Moto G and the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 were powered by a quad-core Snapdragon (MSM 8226) chip clocked at 1.19 GHz. Sony Socialife or Sony’s news app that comes per-loaded on Xperia smartphones, is not exclusive to Xperia smartphones anymore. The Japanese manufacturer has released the app on Google Play for all Android smartphones running on Android 4.1 or later. The app crossed 10 million downloads recently, which now has over 13 million downloads, says the company. Looks like it is still exclusive to Sony Xperia tablets. Micromax Canvas Blaze HD EG116, the company’s latest dual SIM (GSM + CDMA) smartphone is now available from official Micromax eStore. It appeared on official website last week, and has a 5-inch HD display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Nokia X was launched less than a couple of weeks, but it has already been hacked. That is the thing about Android smartphones – you can get root user access and do things that wouldn’t be otherwise possible. As rumored, Nokia introduced an Android smartphone at MWC 2014, but with their own restrictions. Nokia had completely removed Google from the equation and pushed a lot of its own code and Nokia X series devices use Microsoft’s services instead of Google.

LG has just announced at the LG Tech Show 2014 event that the company would launch the LG G2 4G LTE version in India mid-March 2014. It would be priced at Rs. 46,000 for the 16GB variant and Rs. 49,000 for the 32GB variant. The 3G variant of the LG G2 was launched in India back in September last year starting at Rs. 41,500. Samsung Galaxy S4 has got a price cut in India, and is available for Rs. 29,499. The Galaxy S4 was launched in India, back in April at a price tag of Rs. 41,500 . This price cut might be due to the launch the upcoming launch of Galaxy S5 in India.

The biggest expectation of the MWC 2014 had to be Samsung’s Unpacked 5 event where they were expected to announce the successor of Samsung Galaxy S4 and they did announce it – Samsung Galaxy S5. While a lot of people weren’t convinced about the lack of design change from Samsung Galaxy S3 to Samsung Galaxy S4, even more people joined the skeptical lot as Samsung pulled a Samsung out of the hat and introduced the Samsung Galaxy S5 in a design and specs not so different from the predecessor – Galaxy S4.

At the MWC 2014, Huawei was rumored to announce a mid-range LTE capable smartphone and as expected, they announced a midrange smartphone in the form of Huawei Ascend G6. Huawei had launched a couple of tablets and a lone smartphone at the event. Unlike the tablets, which are powered by Huawei’s own processor, the Ascend G6 smartphone is powered by a quad-core processor from Qualcomm.
At the MWC 2014, Huawei announced a couple of Aluminum clad tablets and a smartphone. Among the two tablets, the Huawei MediaPad M1 is the mid range tablet. Under the hood, it packs the same processor as the Huawei MediaPad X1, but comes with a not so high resolution display like the MediaPad X1. It features a HD display, but comes with front facing stereo speakers.
Asus has announced Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for its Padfone devices, including Asus Padfone 2, Padfone Infinity in Asia and Russia, Padfone A80 in Europe and the new Padfone Infinity. Huawei announced a couple of tablets and a smartphone at the MWC 2014. Among the new series of devices, the MediaPad X1 is a 7inch tablet that comes with calling facilities. Apart from the calling feature on a 7inch device, it comes with a high resolution display and a quad-core processor from Huawei. It is made of Aluminum and looks gorgeous.
